TESSA

Declan’s demeaning words motivated me to complete the task by all means.

I couldn’t wait to round this up and then say;’In your face,asshole!’

Of course, I wouldn’t actually say it to his face.

I can just say it in my mind.

I actually wished I could really give him a piece of my mind.

So I put in more efforts and practically all my time.

I ate snacks and instant noodles.

I took most of the documents home to continue working.

I barely get enough sleep and to tell you the truth….I was more than exhausted.

On Friday morning,Audrey walked up

to my

desk.

“Tessa,was Mr Hudson here to scold you again?”

I frowned.”Scold me?I haven’t seen him this morning.”

“Really?I ran into him few minutes ago. He was coming out from here.”Audrey pointed at the door.

I sighed.

He must have come here to mock me.

I have to give him the surprise of his life on Monday.

“What if he was secretly watching you. Oh man!I think he likes you.”

“He doesn’t.He just can’t wait to fire me if I fail to complete this project.”

Audrey face fell.

“I’m so sorry,Tessa.I caused you so much trouble and I can’t be of help of you either.”

I looked up and was saddened by the guilty look on her face.

“C’mon, you’ve been apologizing for days now.It’s fine.I don’t blame you for this.I understand.”

“What did I do to deserve a friend like you?”She cooed.”Have you had breakfast?”

I shook my head.

“Then it’s on me.I’ll quickly get you something.”With that, she scurried off.

While everyone had Saturday and Sunday to themselves….

1 was still working on my computer.

On Sunday.I was the only one in the company.

Chapter 17

I had chosen to work here so I wouldn’t get distracted by my mother and sister.

I briefly wondered how my life would be like if I get fired tomorrow.

I would have to start job hunting again.

I would have to start spending my savings.

But then.I wouldn’t get to see Declan again and be constantly reminded of our one night stand.

I briefly considered getting fired.

Suddenly,heavy footsteps filled the air.

I swallowed.

As far as I can remember,I was the only person in this building.

I tried not to panic.

It might just be the security guards.

I looked up and saw him walking in,gracefully.

I’ve never really given much thoughts to men in suits but always seeing Declan in one made me feel things I didn’t want to feel.

“Good evening,sir.”

‘I had a feeling you would still be here working fruitlessly.”He began.

I rolled my eyes.

Here we go again.

Can’t he ever keep his mouth shut and just stay handsome?

‘If you truly can’t complete it then stop and get some rest.”

f I didn’t know any better,I would think he was being caring right now.

But I also didn’t feel any disdain or contempt in his voice.

I’ll have it completed and in your office tomorrow morning.”I assured.

He nodded and walked off.

decided that keeping my job was better for me so I stayed up all night.

At 7:am,the project was finally completed.

yawned and cleaned my eyes then I wrapped up the files and headed for his office.

wondered if he was at work already so I peered through the glass door and saw him already seated on his chair.

When did he come in?

I knocked and his voice replied from inside.

“Come in.”

I opened the door and walked in.

Good morning,sir.It’s completed now.”I said and placed the files on his table.

He reached out and hurriedly went through the files.

The bidding meeting is by 9:am and I don’t really have the time to check for any mistakes in this file.I do hope there is none because it could tarnish the name of this company.”

I swallowed.

I’ve working here for three years…I’m sure there’s no mistake.

“I understand,sir.And I can guarantee that there’s won’t be any problem.”

He stood up and said. “I’ll have this printed out into several copies. For now,Go through that door.”Declan pointed at the left side of his office.”It would lead you to a bathroom. Take a shower.”

“Take a shower?”I crossed my arms over my chest instantly.

What the hell is this man planning to do to me?
