Chapter 284Â
LILY’S POVÂ
I woke up to the sound of loud voices coming from the living room area. I knitted my brows in confusion when I heard a booming shout.Â
After I had thrown up all the remaining contents of my stomach, mom had rushed to my side to rub my back in a soothing manner. Her worried eyes searched mine as a frown settled on her face. Niall had asked if I was okay but I only gave him a nod, too embarrassed to look at him.Â
Mom had asked if I had the flu or a fever as she checked my temperature. I told her no and that it was stress from school. She believed it, but now! wasn’t so sure that it was the cause. My body was weak and mom had told me to go and sleep it off.Â
This brought us to the present moment where the stranger’s voices grew. I leaped from my bed and in long strides I had reached the living room. Our house was flat so there weren’t any stairs to run down.Â
What I wasn’t expecting was a man and a young girl sitting on the couch watching TV. The TV was blaring and the pair were focused on whatever was playing.Â
The brawny man’s brown hair was shoulder length and tied in a low plait. He had on a plain white shirt and jeans. His body shook every time he let out a boisterous laugh at the TV. His eyes, which were an exact replica of mine, snapped in my direction and widened in astonishment. This man was my dad.Â
His eyes softened before he stood up briskly, making the stunning young girl beside him look at him confused before noticing where he had his attentionÂ
set.Â
My eyes shifted to her frame, she looked about a year younger than me, her brown muddy eyes widened in bewilderment as she studied me. Her blonde hair reached her waist and she swept it back after she gave me a shy smile that I didn’t return. This girl must be my sister.Â
My dad took a cautious step forward only for me to back away. At that moment, mom came out of the kitchen with an apron on and spoon in her hand.Â
She looked like she was cooking breakfast judging by the flour on her exposed shirt and the scent of pancakes flooded the room. Mom was always a messy chef.Â
Her infectious smile came to a halt as she noticed the tension between us. She gave me a nervous look before sending an awkward smile to my dad andÂ
sister.Â
“What are they doing here this early, mom?” I asked mom. My vision blurred with unshed tears. My dad took another step forward only for me to raise my hand in a stopping motion. His eyes downcast as he stared at the floor.Â
“They came here to meet you.” Mom whispered. She swept her hand over her apron in nervousness as she begged me with her eyes to not make a scene.Â
“I wasn’t ready to meet them, I thought we were doing this on my terms!” I yelled, making mum startled at my harsh voice.Â
“Well your dad called…” She said softly, barely a whisper as she avoided my eyes.Â
“Just stop, this man lost the right to call himself my dad a long time ago.” I spoke in disgust. My dad finally lifted his head to speak softly to me. His eyes were red as they stared at me.Â
“Peanut.” His tone cracked.Â
My body turned rigid at his words. How dare he call me that like we are the perfect daddy–daughter duo?Â
“Don’t call me that!” I roared. Everyone jumped at my booming voice. My sister squirmed on the coach. Her blonde hair fell over her face as she looked down at her lap. She twisted her fingers together in nerves. I heard a soft sob leave her lips and I instantly felt guilty until my eyes landed oÂ
father.Â
“Lily, calm down.” Mom said, putting a comforting hand on my shoulder but I shrugged it off. I saw the hurt flash in her eyes but refused to acknowledgeÂ
it at the moment.Â
“Don’t tell me to calm down!” I fumed.Â

Chapter 284Â
At that moment, Niall graced us with his presence. He was shirtless and was rubbing his eyes to remove the sleep. He squinted widen th everyone’s attention on him.Â
“What’s going on?” He asked, confused, looking around.Â
“Who’s this guy and why is he half naked?” My dad asked, infuriated. His hands clenched in a tight grip. He was glaring at Niall murderouslyÂ
“It’s none of your business!” I bellowed. His eyes snapped to mine and gave me a chilling glare.Â
“It is my business, Lily, I’m still your dad and I have a right to worry about you.” He spoke.Â
“You never did before, why start now?” I cried, turned on my heel and returned to my room, making my door slam with a bang. I sat on my bed, pulled my knees up and sobbed into them. My heart ached with every sob that shook my body. It hurt to see him again.Â
“Lily!” Niall burst through the door. His eyes softened as he saw my state. He came towards me and sat down near my form, he then pulled my body into a comforting hug. He was still shirtless and if I wasn’t occupied with crying my eyes out, I would have blushed in embarrassment. I wasn’t attracted to him in any way but I still was shy to see a guy this way.Â
“What happened?” He pulled away and asked me. I sniffled before I told him everything, not leaving anything out. When I was done his face morphed into understanding before sighing.Â
“You guys need to talk it out.” He spoke softly and wiped my tears with the pads of his thumbs.Â
“I know but I don’t think I’m ready.” I sighed and looked down.Â
“Then when will you be?” He asked. He had a fair point: if I don’t talk to them now I will never be ready. I sighed.Â
