As soon as we stepped inside, I spotted a bunch of familiar faces. 

Dylan’s friends. The same ones who had been making bets about me earlier today. 

Some of the guys who lost their bets groaned the moment they saw me. 

“Emma, how are you this stupid?” 

“He’s messed with you at least a dozen times by now, and you still fall for it? You’re hopeless!” 

I kept my expression blank. 

I’d always known his friends hated me. 

Mostly because my presence was an inconvenience to Dylan’s childhood sweetheart. 

The only woman in the group, Hailey Lawson, spoke up in my defense. 

“Oh, come on, guys. Don’t be so mean. Emma’s just… trusting.” 

She smiled sweetly, stepping closer and taking my hand before handing me a red gift box. 

“Emma, I heard it’s your birthday today. Here’s a little something for you.” 

Instinctively, I accepted the box, not realizing how dangerous it was. 

Hailey placed it in my hands–and popped it open. 

A cloud of flour exploded in my face. 

The room erupted into laughter. 

“That’s not ‘trusting,‘ that’s just being straight–up dumb.” 

“Seriously, she thinks she can hang with us? What a joke!” 

I squeezed my eyes shut, wiping off the layer of flour on my face. 

Anger burned inside me, ready to burst–but before I could say a word, Dylan spoke first. 

“Alright, that’s enough. It’s Emma’s birthday, don’t go too far.” 

Then, as if nothing had happened, he tried to guide me to a chair. 

I stared at him icily. 

“That’s it? That’s all you have to say about this?” 

He raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed. 

“What do you want me to do? It was just a joke.” 

I let out a sharp laugh. 

“Dylan, after all these years, have you ever actually treated me like your girlfriend?

“Are you really okay with them humiliating me like this?” 

Seven years together, and for the first time, I embarrassed Dylan in front of his friends. 

His expression darkened immediately. 

“So what do you want?” 

I pointed directly at Hailey. 

“I want her to apologize.” 

Hailey immediately put on an innocent, helpless look. 

“Emma, if you’re really that sensitive, then fine. I’m sorry.” 

“Just don’t start a fight with Dylan over something so small.” 

“Apologize? Please, let’s see what she can actually do.” 

A smirk curled at Dylan’s lips, full of mockery. 

He cut Hailey off with a dark expression, then shot me a look full of disdain. 

“Emma, you’ve got some nerve. Throwing attitude at me in front of everyone?” 

“If you can’t handle the game, don’t play. We can always break up.” 

I shook my head, amused. 

In Dylan’s mind, I was still that girl who couldn’t leave him. 

No matter what I did, if it didn’t please him, he’d pull the breakup card–like always. 

“Sounds good to me.” 

“Dylan, we’re done.” 

With everyone staring in shock, I grabbed my bag and walked out of the VIP lounge. 

Before leaving, I stopped by the restroom to clean off the flour on me. 

As I passed by the lounge again, laughter spilled out from inside. 

“Dylan, aren’t you worried Emma might actually leave you?” 

“And you’re still sitting here drinking?” 

His voice was completely indifferent. 

“Please. She’s such a desperate puppy. One text and she’ll come running back.” 

“If you don’t believe me, give it a few hours.” 

“I’ll have her back in my bed before the night’s over. Wanna bet?” 

“Bet? Hell yeah. No way you win every time.” 

“Count me out. I always lose these bets.” 

Chapter 2 

My face was expressionless, but my heart felt like it was being torn apart. 

Seven years. And to him, I was nothing more than a wager between friends. 

Dazed, I stumbled out of the restaurant–only to slam straight into a solid chest. 

Logan arched a brow, his calm voice carrying a trace of irritation. 

“What happened? You look like a mess.” 

I hadn’t expected to run into him here. 

Fumbling through my bag, I pulled out a tissue to wipe the water off my face, standing awkwardly in front of him. 

“It’s nothing… Just got a little flour on me.” 

Then I glanced at his expensive suit–now smeared with flour and damp from the water. 

Guilt crept up on me, and I blurted out an apology. 

“Sorry, that’s on me. I got your suit dirty.” 

“Do you want to take it off? I can have it cleaned for you.” 

He didn’t say a word. 

His deep eyes locked onto mine, like he could see right through my lie, 

“Emma, starting today, we’re married.” 

“You don’t need to apologize to me. It’s just a suit.” 

“Even if you hit me, it’d only be because I did something wrong,” 

His low, magnetic voice sent a shiver down my spine. 

My face instantly flushed.
