Chapter 50 

Instinctively, I struck the person’s face with the back of my hand. 

“It’s me, Cathy!” the person exclaimed. 

Then they turned on a faint light using their cellphones. 

Through that dim light, I saw a man with short hair. 

He had a spirited yet somewhat aloof and disdainful face. 

The man also recognized me clearly. The concerned look in his eyes instantly turned cold, and then, with disdain, he pushed me away, saying, “How could it be you?” 

Only now did I fully recognize the person in front of me: “Robert?” 

Apparently, Robert had mistaken me for Cathy just now. 

Stepping back several paces, Robert’s lips twisted in annoyance. From his nostrils, he let out a contemptuous snort. 

He used the same handkerchief to wipe his hands, right in front of me. 

Without saying a word, it was enough to make me understand that I was not welcome here.

He continued, “Do you think by imitating Cathy’s voice and dressing similarly, I would spare you a second glance? You’re naturally a monkey; even if you put on an emperor’s robe, you’ll never become an emperor; it’s just ridiculous! I advise you not to disgust people any further!” 

Robert’s words were harsh and offensive; every sentence was a jab. 

As he finished, he put his hands in his pockets and walked forward, looking down on me with disdain. 

“Mr. Freeman,” I called back. 

I walked up to Robert, not angry at all. Instead, I looked at him with a smile that was not quite a smile. 

“Where is Mr. Freeman currently residing?” 

Robert looked at the woman in front of him, puzzled. 

He had just been criticized harshly by me, yet I could still smile and show concern about where he was living?

Caught off guard, Robert blushed with embarrassment. 

His once proud face suddenly turned dark, as black as coal. 

In the past, while at Oliver’s residence due to his relationship with Oliver, no matter how much disdain Robert showed towards me, I could endure it without reacting. 

But now I was divorced from Oliver, and there was no reason to tolerate the sarcasm of his friend. 

After speaking, I casually pursed my lips. 

A nonchalant smile graced my indifferent face, and I didn’t say much, but it was enough for Robert to clearly see my mocking him! 

“You!” He couldn’t help but grit his teeth in anger. 

“In this world, there are so many people wearing Chanel; are they all trying to imitate Miss Cathy?” I didn’t give him a chance to speak and continued. 

Robert widened his eyes, looking at me with shock. 

In his memory, this woman always appeared restrained and inexperienced; even when he was unkind to me in front of Oliver, I didn’t dare to utter a word. But now I dared to confront him like this? 

Robert was also born into a prestigious family and had a high opinion of himself. When had he ever been confronted like this before? His face stiffened with tension, and the anger in his eyes was evident. 

I had no intention of appeasing him, continuing, “Furthermore, Mr. Freeman seems to have hearing problems. Now, I didn’t need to worry about whether Oliver would come back or not anymore. I could fall into a deep sleep as soon as my head touched the pillow.

While Rita was sound asleep, Oliver was drinking heavily at the ceremony. 

In his mind, the words Rita had said kept echoing repeatedly. 

Initially, he was furious about Rita’s design, and though he married her, he never truly regarded her as Mrs. Harrison. 

In fact… He didn’t even consider her a human being. 

At the time of the ancestral ceremony, when he received a call from Cathy, he almost instinctively abandoned Rita. 

As for whether she was pregnant and whether she could come home, he never gave it a thought!

of them matched the identity of the owner of Starlight Media.” 

After finishing her report, Linda added, “I apologize, but I couldn’t find any divorce registration for the owner of Starlight Media.” 

Oliver’s slender fingers tightened around the wine glass upon hearing Linda’s words. 

After a moment, he regained his composure and looked over at her. 

His eyebrows slightly furrowed, but it lasted only for two seconds before he relaxed. 

In a calm tone, he said, “Let’s put this matter to rest. There’s no need to investigate further.” 

“Understood.” Linda’s voice carried a hint of cheerfulness. “Just so you know, Cathy also doesn’t want you to continue investigating. She asked me to plead on her behalf, requesting you not to trouble Rita anymore.” 

“Mr. Harrison’s treatment of Cathy is indeed extraordinary.” 

Oliver stood up, and his body stiffened slightly upon hearing Linda’s words. 

Indeed, he had intended to let Rita go. 

But it wasn’t solely because of Cathy’s plea. 

There were deeper reasons involving Rita herself. 

She was right; no matter how embarrassed he was by that incident, the entire Harrison family had still benefited from it. 

He was willing to let go of Rita and cut ties with her completely. 

“From now on, no one should mention/Rita or the owner of Starlight Media again,” he coldly instructed.
