Chapter 1181 

Sharon touched Thomas’s forehead. It was warm, but not burning. 

She exhaled softly, a trace of guilt flickering through her chest. The air in Yuicuador was always damp, heavy with moisture. It had rained the whole night–cold, endless rain. The floor must have been freezing. 

And she’d made Thomas sleep on it. 

Even she wouldn’t have lasted the night without catching a cold. If something happened to him now, at a time like this, they wouldn’t just fail to escape the country–they wouldn’t even survive the next pursuit. 

Sharon closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath. When she opened them again, her expression had settled into quiet resolve. 

She straightened the blankets on the bed, then went back to his side. Whatever else, she had to get him off the cold floor before the chill sank deeper. 

But Thomas was tall, about the same height as Carter, and built solidly. Even though Sharon had been training lately, trying to strengthen her body, lifting him was another matter entirely. 

After several attempts, she was sweating, breath shallow, arms trembling. Finally, she managed to get him half upright. 61 

That was when Thomas stirred. 

His eyes opened slowly. “What’s wrong?” His voice was hoarse, stripped of its usual calm, clean tone. 

Seeing him awake, Sharon’s heart lifted a little. “Thomas, how do you feel? Can you get up? You should rest on the bed for a bit.” 

His 

gaze found her face. His eyes were strange–different from the clear, steady ones she knew. They looked dark, clouded, as if reflecting the gray sky outside. There was something cold there too, like a shadow that didn’t belong. 

“…Alright,” he murmured. 

Sharon helped him onto the bed. “Is your head still hurting?” 

After a pause, he gave a slow nod. “Yeah.” 

“Do you have your medicine with you?” she asked. “Or anything you usually take when it gets bad?” 

It took him a while to answer. “It’s an old problem. Medicine doesn’t help.” 

“Then just rest,” Sharon said quietly. “I’ll go buy some breakfast. Is there anything you want?” 

He shook his head faintly. 

“Alright,” she said. “You rest. I’ll be back soon.” 

She stepped out of the room, closing the door softly behind her. In the corridor, she took out her phone and dialed Liam’s number.

Chapter 1181. 

They’d exchanged contacts the last time he’d helped her deal with Q. 

The line connected quickly. Liam’s voice was as bright and easygoing as ever. 

“Miss McKinzie, what is it this time? Another tech issue?” 

Sharon walked toward a quiet corner of the hall. “No. I need to ask you something–about Thomas.” 

There was a sharp pause. “Thomas? What happened to him?” 

“His condition’s been strange lately,” she said. “His head seems to hurt–a lot.” 

Liam’s tone changed. “Did he kill someone?” 

Sharon was silent for two seconds. “…Yes 

Liam’s eyelids twitched violently. 

Damn it. It was happening again. 

That old sickness of Thomas’s–the one that surfaced after bloodshed. It made him cold, detached, almost feral. His emotions unraveled, reason slipping away thread by thread. 

Back then, Kelly had seen that side of him. She’d run all the way back to Amstern City in terror, choosing to chase after a married man rather than stay anywhere near Thomas. She’d been afraid–afraid that one day, he’d lose control completely, and take her life along with him. 

And Liam himself, who’d followed Thomas for years, always made sure to keep his distance whenever the sickness returned. 

Now, Sharon was alone with him, while he was in that condition. 

That was dangerous. Very dangerous.
