A flicker of hesitation crossed Sharon’s mind before she rose to her feet. “Take me to see him.” 

Flint finally let out a long breath of relief. “Thank you, Miss McKinzie.” 

In the office, Julliard sat behind his desk, pressing his fingers against the bridge of his nose. Fatigue had carved itself into the sharp lines of his face; exhaustion dulled his once–bright eyes. 

His secretary, Joanne Possy, approached quietly and placed a stack of folders before him. “Mr. Macaron, these are the documents you requested.” 

He acknowledged her with a faint hum and reached for the papers, already preparing to flip through them. 

“Mr. Macaron,” Joanne hesitated, biting her lip. “You should rest for a while.” 1 

Julliard’s expression remained impassive. “No need. You can go.” 

“Mr. Macaron-” 

“Go.” His tone turned cold, leaving no room for argument. 

Joanne lowered her gaze, swallowing the ache of affection and worry that welled in her chest. After a brief pause, she turned and left the room. 

Moments later, a knock sounded again at the door. 

Julliard’s brows drew together. Without lifting his head, he said curtly, “I’m not hungry. If it’s nothing urgent, don’t disturb me.” 

Silence followed. Yet whoever stood outside didn’t leave. 

Annoyed, he finally looked up–only for his breath to catch when he saw who it was. 

“Sharon? What are you doing here?” 

The words left him before his expression shifted, darkening as realization dawned. 

“Did Flint tell you something?” 

Sharon met his gaze steadily. “He said you haven’t been resting–or eating properly–for days.” 

Julliard frowned. “You’re already busy enough. He shouldn’t be troubling you with that.” 

“What’s going on, Julliard? Why is Jamie suddenly targeting you?” 

A faint flicker passed through his eyes. 

He couldn’t tell her the truth–that he’d used Johanna’s humiliation as leverage, forcing her to steal Walton Group’s confidential data, hoping to strike a fatal blow against Jamie in revenge for Sharon. 

Johanna had succeeded in stealing the data. But Jamie had turned the trap against him, baiting him step by step until he fell into it. 1

He’d been played by the Walton siblings. 

But that was something Sharon could never know. 

Julliard’s tone softened. “Maybe he just dislikes me. Don’t worry, the Macaron Group isn’t that fragile. I’ll find a way to fix this.” 

Sharon hesitated, then spoke again. “Flint said you sold your shares and used all your liquid assets to help me. That’s why the Macaron Group fell into crisis and gave Jamie the chance to strike.” 

After a while, she asked, “Julliard… that mysterious investor, Mr. F–was it you?” 

A faint tremor flickered in his gaze. “Mr. F?” 

She clarified, her tone calm but probing. “The money I used to acquire Silverstone Group’s shares didn’t come from selling my original stock. It came from a mysterious investor who claimed to be Mr. F. He transferred fifty billion to me. I tried investigating him, but found nothing. No trace at all.” 

Her eyes locked on his. “Julliard, was that investor you?” 

Julliard’s heart lurched. 

Someone had invested fifty billion in her, and she didn’t even know who? Only a name: Mr. F. 

At last, he understood why she had come in person. 

She’d misunderstood–because of what Flint said. 

Still, it wasn’t an unreasonable assumption. 

To prevent any accidents, he’d already moved a massive sum out of Macaron Group’s account long ago, planning to transfer it to her if she ever asked for help. 

She hadn’t needed it in the end, but he’d never touched the money again. 

Then, when she successfully completed the acquisition, the Macaron Group began to falter. 

He had poured that same money back into the stock market to stabilize the company. 

It worked–briefly. For a few days, the numbers steadied. 

And then everything collapsed again.
