Before coming to Windmere, Valerie had done her homework on the Woodwards and knew every member like the back of her hand. 

Jay, on the other hand, had only heard of her name and never seen her in person. 

After sneaking out of the hospital tonight to hang out with his buddies, he never expected to run into such a stunning beauty, far more captivating than the plain–looking nurses at the hospital. 

Eugene raised his phone and leaned in. “Let’s exchange numbers, and I’ll give you some money. Are 888 dollars enough?” 

Valerie gave them a calm, steady look. “I don’t have a habit of befriending strangers.” 

But Jay grinned suggestively. “Once you add us, we’ll be friends. We’ll each send you 888 dollars, and that’ll add up to a nice little sum.” 

Valerie smirked coldly. Jay was even more despicable than she had heard. 

She slapped Eugene’s phone aside and replied, “I don’t need the money. Keep your 888 dollars and buy yourselves some candy.” 

Although her gesture was light, Eugene swayed his wrist on purpose and allowed the phone to clatter loudly to the floor. Immediately, the atmosphere turned tense. 

He sneered maliciously. “This phone is brand new and cost me almost 2,000 dollars. Now that you’ve broken it, you’ve got two choices. Either pay me a hundred times its price or pay with your body.” 

Jay and two others closed in. “Five in a bed sounds interesting.” 

Valerie’s pupils narrowed. “One last friendly warning. I have a short temper and don’t take well to disrespect.”

group burst into mocking laughter, and out of all of them, Eugene laughed the loudest.” Am I hearing things, guys? This chick says she’s got a short temper and can’t take disrespect.” 

The others jeered scornfully, while Jay arrogantly raised his chin. “You’re just some lowlife working at a club and trading on your looks. We’re doing you a favor by even talking to you, so don’t be ungrateful.” 

To them, she was nothing but a pretty face, and everything she wore probably added up to less than 500 dollars. Her clothes seemed to define her status, and Jay automatically assumed she

was just a staff member working at the club. 

“A million dollars isn’t a small change, sweetheart. Or you could make it up with your body 

instead.” 

“Yeah! As long as you keep us entertained, we’ll make sure you get to live the best life from now on.” 

Eugene’s laughter was the loudest and most unbridled, while his companions snickered with vulgar glee. 

Valerie slowly narrowed her eyes. “Let me give you one more sincere warning, scumbags. I have a very, very bad temper.” 

Every vile word from these scumbags triggered something in her boiling blood. She was almost hoping they’d sink even lower, just so she could unleash chaos. 

She had no idea that when she grew excited, her fiery eyes sparkled brilliantly like a wicked enchantress, luring villains to cross the line. That side of her only fueled Eugene’s desire to dominate. 

“I love breaking ignorant, naïve young ladies like you until they’re kneeling and begging for mercy.” 

With that, he raised his arm to strike her pretty face, eager to hear the beautiful cries she’d make once she felt the pain. 

Just as his hand swung forward, he was sent flying by a powerful kick. The thud of his body hitting the floor was accompanied by the sickening sound of bones cracking. 

The room erupted into chaos.
