Chapter 204 Favoritism 

Raine’s eyes widened in shock. Had Martha already decided to hand the company over to Nancy? 

Regina frowned and stepped forward. “Martha, are you giving the company to Nancy?” 

“That’s right. She’s the most capable of her generation.” 

Regina’s frown deepened. “But… what about your health? Raine was the one who got Dr. Gales to help you!” 

“I’m old now. If it’s my time to die, then so be it.” Martha was indifferent toward her own life or 

death. 

Raine dug her nails into her palms as fury burned in her eyes. As it turned out, Martha would rather die than let Raine have the company. Why was she so damn biased? 

“I’m tired. Everyone, leave,” Martha ordered, clearly exhausted. “Emma, think carefully about what I told you.” 

“Martha…” Emma’s voice broke with despair. 

“You’ll all get bigger dividends with Nancy here. It’ll be enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your lives, even. Stop asking for more!” Martha snapped. “Go home and think it over!” 

Everyone in the room was forced to leave. 

Nancy stayed with Martha a little longer until the latter needed to rest. Then, Nancy stepped into the hallway, where she ran straight into Raine and Regina. 

Raine glared at her. “Nancy, do you really want Grandma’s shares?” 

“Why wouldn’t I?” Nancy replied. 

“Grandma’s sick. Only I can get Dr. Gales to perform the surgery. If you take the shares, I’ll never call him over.” Raine’s voice dripped with threat. 

Nancy chuckled. “So the shares matter more than Grandma’s life?” 

“The same goes for you. Give them up, and Grandma will live,” Raine said, leaning closer to Nancy. So what’ll it be, Nancy?” 

Regina’s gaze flickered between them. Raine was talented, sure, but the company was all that 

mattered. 

“Nancy, listen to her. If she inherits the shares, she’ll name you as the vice president. You’ll work together to make the company bigger.” 

“Not a chance.” Nancy didn’t hesitate at all. She turned toward the elevator.

She then stepped inside and left without another word. 

Raine’s face twisted with rage as she turned to Regina. “See that, Mom? Nancy’s cold–blooded. Grandma dotes on her, but she doesn’t care at all. I’m telling Grandma everything!” 

She stormed back into Martha’s room and hit the play button on her phone. 

“Hear that, Grandma? Nancy doesn’t love you. She only cares about the company!” Raine watched eagerly, waiting for disappointment to crack Martha’s otherwise impassive expression. 

But Martha didn’t so much as flinch. Instead, she looked at Raine coldly. “And you’re any better?” 

Raine’s expression faltered. “I only act this way because you’re being so unfair! Grandma, just give me the shares, and I’ll make sure you live out your years in peace.” 

“Get out.” Martha didn’t even glance at her. 

Raine’s fury boiled over. Martha didn’t even react at all. To her, Martha was still playing favorites with Nancy. 

If that was how it was going to be, Raine would show Martha exactly what kind of person Nancy was. 

Raine stormed out of the room. 

Outside, Regina pieced together what had happened after seeing the look on Raine’s face. “Martha’s incredibly stubborn.” 

“Exactly!” Raine seethed. “Inheritance usually goes to the eldest grandson. It’s fine if she won’t give it to me, but not even to Fergus? She’s just biased toward Nancy.” 

Regina’s face darkened. “It isn’t fair, yes. But thanks to her favoritism, at least your brother’s been free to grow his own career. And it’s going well, too.” 

“Really? Then it looks like I’ll get to see the results soon enough,” Raine said as a smile spread across 

her face.
