Chapter 1095Â
Thomas’s handsome face was as cold as carved ice. “Rick, don’t tell me you didn’t know Miles is a notorious lecher. You left Sharon alone in a room with him–weren’t you afraid something might happen to her?”Â
Rick froze for a moment. Truthfully, that thought hadn’t even crossed his mind.Â
But he quickly composed himself. “This is a Kalen family banquet. Sharon is a member of our family. Even if Miles had a death wish, he wouldn’t dare lay a hand on one of us.”Â
Thomas’s voice dropped, dangerously soft. “And what if he did?”Â
Rick stiffened. “Then the Kalen family will never let him go unpunished.”Â
Thomas let out a cold laugh. “Never let him go? How exactly? You’d kill him? Cripple him? Or perhaps smooth it over like Jamie -turn a scandal into a mere misunderstanding?”Â
Rick’s mouth opened, but no words came.Â
Thomas’s patience had already worn thin. His dark eyes gleamed with a blood–red fury.Â
“Take me to Sharon. Now. If she’s even slightly harmed, I’ll show you what never letting someone go truly means.”Â
Not far away, Carter overheard the exchange, his sharp features tightening.Â
He stepped forward, adding his own pressure. “Rick, Sharon is Theo’s mother. If something happens to her here, at your family’s banquet–the Biggs family may not match the Kalen family’s power, but don’t think we’ll sit quietly and watch. Take usÂ
to her. Now.”Â
Theo’s face paled. He tugged at Rick’s sleeve, voice tremblingÂ
“Uncle Rick, please, take us to find my mom.”Â
Rick glanced toward the chaos spreading across the banquet hall, then back at the three guys before him. His lips pressed into a thin line. Finally, he nodded.Â
Their words had shaken even him.Â
Surely Miles wouldn’t be reckless enough to try something here, in the Kalen family’s own house… would he?Â
He had vouched for Miles only because Miles had called earlier to apologize and offer to renegotiate the contract. As the eldest son of the Kalen family, Rick couldn’t appear useless–helping smooth things over had seemed like a harmless gesture, even aÂ
favor to Sharon.Â
Never would he have imagined that Miles might actually lose his mind.Â
Rick led Thomas and Carter upstairs. Along the way, Thomas called Julliard, but no one answered.Â
Carter frowned. Whatever they were about to find, it couldn’t be good.Â
He didn’t want Theo to see anything that might scar him for life. He found an empty guest room, crouched to meet Theo’s eyes, and said firmly, “Stay here, Theo. No matter who knocks, don’t open the door unless it’s me.”Â
Though anxious, the boy nodded obediently, trusting his father and Thomas to bring his mother back.Â
Once Carter had settled his son, he rejoined Thomas and Rick—just as the two men were pounding on a closed door.Â
Still no answer. Sharon’s phone remained silent.Â
Rick’s expression darkened to an ominous shade.Â

Could Miles really have lost his reason? If something happened to Sharon under his guarantee, no amount of explaining wouldÂ
ever clear his name.Â
“I’ll have someone bring the keycard,” Rick said hurriedly.Â
But before the words had even left his mouth–Â
Bang!Â
Thomas had already drawn a pistol and fired straight at the lock.Â
The latch shattered. He kicked the door open.Â
Inside, Miles lay sprawled unconscious on the floor.Â
