Loving DAD 1076

Miles had met Victoria a few times before and had to admitshe was beautiful, yesbut compared to Sharon, she lacked a certain womanly allure.

Sharon was something else entirely. Her features were refined yet striking, her charm sensual yet dignified. Beauty radiated from her with such vivid force that it felt almost tangibleintoxicating, but never vulgar. She was a born enchantress, a rare kind of temptation that pulled a man in without him realizing it.

Miles had seen his fair share of beautiful women over the years, but never one quite like Sharon. She was dazzling but not ostentatious, seductive without crossing into the obscene. Just looking at her stirred an ache of want he couldn’t quite suppressa greedy, possessive urge to claim her for himself.

But then, without warning, a chill like a blade cut through the air.

Miles froze, his instincts prickling with the unmistakable sense of danger. The fine hairs on his arms stood on end. Slowly, he lifted his headonly to meet a pair of eyes as dark and cold as winter frost.

He blinked in surprise before recognition dawned.

Ah, yes. That guy. The one Sharon had brought along.

Pretty face, lean buildwhat was he again? Her boy toy?

No, righther bodyguard.

Recovering his composure, Miles let out a casual laugh. I’ve already reviewed everything beforehand, so there’s no need for another round of confirmation today.”

Sharon took out the contract, her tone courteous but cool. In that case, Miles, please go ahead and sign.”

Miles picked up the document, skimmed through a few pages without real interest, and set it aside.

It’s our first time meeting. I’d rather take the opportunity to get acquainted,he said, his smile practiced and lecherous. As for the contract, I’ll be signing it tonight, don’t you worry.”

Sharon glanced at her watch and gave an apologetic smile. I’m sorry, Miles, but I have quite a lot of work waiting for me back at the office. Once we’re done signing, I’ll need to leave immediately.”

A faint shadow crossed Miles’s gazefollowed by a flicker of disdain.

Rumor had it she was rather promiscuous. After her divorce, she’d allegedly entertained several men and even kept a pretty boy toy on the side. 1

And now she wanted to play the virtuous act? Was this her version of hardtoget?

Feigning regret, he said, Sharon, since you’re busy, I won’t keep you long. But since fate has brought us together tonight, allow me to offer you a toastjust one drink, as new friends.”

He raised a glass toward her, his expression perfectly polite, the kind that made refusal seem rude.

Sharon looked at the wine and gave a faint, measured smile.

I’m sorry, Miles, but I don’t drink.”

Her polite refusal didn’t surprise him in the least.

Setting his glass down, Miles chuckled. Then how about a soft drink instead? Surely that’s acceptable, yes?”

He snapped his fingers.

A waiter immediately stepped forward, presenting a sealed bottle of soda. He opened it right in front of them- proof that it hadn’t been tampered with.

Watching the little display, Sharon’s lips curved in a faint, knowing smile, cold amusement glinting in her eyes.

The waiter poured a glass and handed it respectfully to Miles, who turned and held it out toward her.

Sharon,he coaxed gently, surely this is fine?”

At this point, most people would have no polite way out. Refusing again would seem ungraciousperhaps even suspicious.

But Sharon neither accepted the drink nor answered.

Miles’s voice dropped, smooth and persuasive. Sharon, if you drink this, I’ll sign the contract immediately. You’ll be free to go back to work within minutes.”

Sharon’s eyes gleamed with quiet amusement as she looked at him. Then she smiled.

Miles, you wouldn’t happen to have put something in this drinkwould you?”

For a second, Miles almost forgot to breathe. Her beauty at that momentplayful, dangerous, enchantingwas enough to make his throat tighten.

He gulped. Of course not. You saw it yourselfit was freshly opened. It couldn’t have been spiked.”

Sharon arched a brow. Is that so?”
