Chapter 30 Emily Lets Go
Emily nodded at Amelia indifferently and said, “Sure. Let’s do it now.”
The smile on Amelia’s face stiffened in an instant.
Turning to Mallory, Emily said, “Go get Dr. Jamison from the obstetrics and gynecology department and Dr. Langford from the laboratory department. Tell them Mr. Holton’s girlfriend is feeling
unwell. Tell them to come over to do a joint consultation.”
Mallory was stunned for a second, but she understood her right away.
Stifling a laugh, she nodded enthusiastically and replied, “Alright.”
Amelia, on the other hand, panicked. Trembling, she grabbed Gabriel’s sleeve tightly without thinking and asked, “Wh–what are you trying to do to me, Dr. Sterling? I–I’m scared.”
Gabriel shielded her behind him, looking sullen.
“Emily, this is a hospital. Don’t think that you can just do whatever you want because of your status, “Gabriel warned.
Emily looked at him with a raised eyebrow and asked, “Haven’t you always been worried about Ms. Waverly’s health? With so many experts gathering together for a consultation, we’ll thoroughly check her from head to toe. We’ll determine which aspect of Ms. Waverly’s health is lacking, and we’ll address that. This will most definitely put your mind at ease, don’t you think?”
Amelia resisted and said with a catch in her throat, “I don’t want that, Gabe. I’m scared to be examined by a group of doctors. I-
“What’s the matter? You don’t have the guts?” Emily cut her off.
Emily’s gaze sent a chill down Amelia’s spine, making her clench her jaw. She then turned to Gabrel, shaking her head with all her might.
“I’m really feeling unwell today, Gabe. Let’s do the checkup another time, alright? Let’s just leave,” said Amelia as she turned around, trying to run away.
Suddenly, someone grabbed Amelia’s wrist.
It was Emily.
She had just finished a four–hour surgery, so she didn’t have a lot of strength. Still, her grip was too strong for Amelia to break free.
She looked at Amelia and said in a soft but stern voice, taking no for an answer, “Ms. Waverly, it’s because you’re unwell that you need to be treated right away.”

Chapter 30 Emily Lets Go
2/3
Gabriel’s eyebrows furrowed tightly, the air around him heavy and suffocating.
“Emily, let go,” he growled.
Emily didn’t look at him. She kept her gaze locked on Amelia’s ashen face instead and asked, ” What’s the matter? Are you going to watch her stay sick without doing anything and refuse medical treatment?”
Gabriel was going to reprimand her, but that simple question from her got his words stuck in his throat.
He looked at Amelia’s tearful, pleading eyes, then at Emily’s indifferent expression. He felt that the annoyance that he couldn’t quite explain grew stronger.
He couldn’t believe that he was backed into a corner by Emily.
At last, Gabriel pulled his gaze away, squeezing the words through his clenched jaw as he said, “Of course, we’ll have to do a thorough check for the sake of Amelia’s health.”
Amelia was frozen stiff.
She looked at Gabriel in disbelief, but all she saw was his icy profile.
In the end, all of them moved to the Special Care Unit.
Amelia still had tears in her eyes as she was propped up, reclining weakly on the bed.
She looked so pitiful that any man would protect her.
Theodore Jamison, the head of the obstetrics and gynecology department, and Victor Langford from the laboratory department took turns examining her. They moved their stethoscopes around her chest and flashed their penlight across Amelia’s pupils.
A moment later, Theodore straightened his back, looking confused.
“Mr. Holton, Ms. Waverly’s vitals are stable,” said Theodore.
Victor nodded and said, “Her pulse is strong and her breath is stable. She doesn’t seem to have any underlying condition.”
Emily stood at the side with her arms crossed, like an audience watching a performance.
“Ms. Waverly fell down the stairs today, and she was bleeding between her legs,” she said calmly.
Both the medical experts were shocked to hear that.
Theodore immediately looked at the data on the monitor again and said, “She was bleeding? That’s strange. If what Dr. Sterling said is true, then it proves that Ms. Waverly is very healthy and can heal much faster than most people.”
Chapter 30 Emily Lets Go
Emily was slightly surprised. Did that mean that Amelia wasn’t pregnant and didn’t have a miscarriage?
