The financier, who had been ready to join the fray moments earlier, gulped hard at the sight before him and instinctively stumbled back a few steps. 

Blood spread across the glossy marble floor in a dark, shocking bloom. 

Richard’s pupils contracted sharply as he barked for help. 

“Someone! Call a doctor! Now!” 

Footsteps pounded down the hallway, chaos erupting through the office. 

Sharon, however, stood motionless–like a detached observer watching a scene unfold that had nothing to do with her. 

Before long, the ambulance arrived, whisking the oil tycoon away to the hospital. 

The financier took the chance to slip out as well. His earlier arrogance had completely vanished. He kept thinking, ‘She’s fucking insane. She’d dared to crash into our son’s cars; who’s to say she wouldn’t pull the trigger on us for real the next time?‘ 

Trading the life of an illegitimate daughter for theirs… the exchange was not worth it. 

And afterward? If Richard simply claimed that Victoria was mentally unstable, they’d die in vain. 

Moments ago, the two men had thought to squeeze some compensation out of Richard before settling the matter peacefully. 

Now, reconciliation was out of the question. 

Since peace was impossible, then… 

As the financier exited the building, he cast one final look at the towering Kalen Group headquarters, a shard of cold malice flashing in his eyes. 

Meanwhile, Silas and Scott had just heard from Victoria that Lex had been found, and both were visibly stunned. 

Silas asked, “Victoria, are you going to see him?” 

Victoria nodded. “Mhm. Once we finish the tour of the company, I’ll go check on Lex.” 

The three chatted idly as they headed toward the elevators. 

Suddenly, a flurry of people came rushing down the hall, panic etched across their faces. 

Scott’s brows furrowed. “Why is everyone in such a hurry? What happened?” 

Silas pressed his lips into a thin line, about to stop someone and ask–when his assistant came running toward him, face pale as chalk. 

“Your sister… Miss McKinzie… She fired a gun in the CEO’s office and shot the oil tycoon!” 

Silas froze, unable to believe his ears. “What did you just say?!” 

The assistant, nearly in tears, repeated, “After I escorted Miss McKinzie to the CEO’s office, I remembered I had a task to confirm with his secretary, so I stepped out for a moment. I’d barely lett when I heard a gunshot. When I ran back, the oil tycoon was lying in a pool of blood! I–I was the one who brought her in there… they’ll blame me for this! I could lose my life!” 

The three Kalen siblings exchanged shocked looks. 

“She’s gone mad!” Silas blurted, his voice shaking. “She actually fired a gun?!”

Without another word, they all rushed upstairs. 

Rick, who had also heard the gunfire, arrived at the same time to investigate. 

By then, paramedics were carrying the wounded oil tycoon past them on a stretcher. 

Rick’s expression darkened. “What happened here? Who discharged a firearm?” 

In Marcentine, guns weren’t outlawed. Many people of status carried them for protection–but inside the Kalen Group headquarters? That was another matter entirely. 

Scott quickly recounted everything that had happened. 

When he finished, Rick’s icy gaze swung toward Silas. 

“I told you not to bring Sharon here,” he said coldly. “I warned you she’d cause trouble. And now look–she’s shot someone! Do you realize we might have just offended one of the most powerful families in the country?” 

Silas lowered his head, guilt clouding his face. “I… I didn’t think she’d actually lose control like this…” 

Scott’s expression shifted, his tone thoughtful. “Haven’t you noticed? Ever since Sharon’s hand was destroyed, she hasn’t been the same. Her whole demeanor–her methods–they’ve changed.” 

The others paused, startled by his words. 

Scott’s gaze flicked toward Richard’s office. “If I’m not mistaken, the fact that she hired a bodyguard with such extraordinary skill means she’s been planning something for a long time.”
