“One thing’s clear, Richard,” an older shareholder said sharply. “Your three sons perform admirably when times are calm-but the moment trouble hits, their lack of competence is glaring. 

“Whatever the reason, the first priority should have been to stabilize Sharon, not provoke her further.” 

Another voice followed coldly. “It seems the three Kalen boys still have much to learn. The Kalen Group must not fall into their hands too soon.” 

Murmurs rippled through the room as one person after another chimed in, their words thinly veiled but their meaning unmistakable: Rick and his brothers weren’t up to the task. 

The brothers’ faces darkened to an ashen blue. 

When they finally sobered after the meeting, realization hit-they had been played. Sharon had steered the conversation deliberately, luring them into ruining their own reputations. 

Then another voice spoke up. “If you ask me, that Sharon isn’t any saint either. To air family scandals publicly and drag the Kalen Group into disgrace-she’s venomous.” 

An elder from Shayla’s faction let out a derisive laugh. “Venomous? If she hadn’t been pushed to the edge, would she have resorted to this? Jamie kidnapped her, crippled her hand-and what did Richard and his sons do? Instead of defending their own blood, they schemed to swindle her out of her original shares. 

“Even a clay figure has a temper. Did you really think Sharon was some pliant pushover? She only fought back. I’d say she’s done her mother proud.” 

His gaze cut toward Richard, cold and sharp. “Only someone with that kind of spine deserves to lead a company.

At that, the three brothers’ expressions shifted drastically. 

The elder continued, voice heavy with implication. “Richard, when will you arrange for Sharon to join the company? She holds ten percent of the original shares. She’s a decision-maker. She has every right to sit at this table with us.” 

Richard knew resistance was futile. Sharon’s entry into Kalen Group was inevitable. 

“She’s currently studying business management,” he said evenly. “If all goes well, she’ll join by the end of the month.” 

That placated several of the Shayla-aligned shareholders, their faces softening a touch. 

Richard went on, “Sharon is my daughter, and so is Victoria. With my sons already in the company and Sharon soon to join, I believe Victoria should also gain experience within Kalen Group.” 

The reaction was immediate and explosive. 

“No!” 

“She must never set foot in the Kalen Group!”

“I absolutely oppose this!” 

Richard’s voice hardened. “Let’s not forget how much profit Victoria’s connections have brought this company over the years. You all know it. I didn’t terminate our partnership with the Walton family for selfish reasons-it was to safeguard everyone’s interests. 

“That said, I’ve already issued a statement ending cooperation with the Walton Group, in accordance with Sharon’s wishes. But if you insist on barring Victoria from the company, then every deal established through her network should be dissolved as well. Otherwise, how am I to justify this-to Victoria or to the other major families involved?” 

When the meeting finally adjourned, the Shayla faction’s shareholders looked grim. 

Richard’s proposal had gone to a vote. As always, the minority obeyed the majority. 

Except for the few dissenting elders and shareholders loyal to Shayla, nearly everyone voted in favor of letting Victoria join Kalen Group. 

Only then did they realize-Richard’s years of keeping Victoria outside the company hadn’t been neglect. It had been strategy. 

All this time, he’d been paving her path. And now that the road was ready, it was time for Victoria to take her place.
