Chapter 37 He Actually Cares Deeply for His Wife
The men looked up and exchanged glances before their gazes landed on Catherine.
The ringleader untied the rope around her legs and stared at her. “I’ll take you to the hospital. But remember what you promised.”
“I won’t hold you responsible…” She was in so much pain that she couldn’t even stand. The sound of her breathing was even louder than her words.
Her vision blurred into waves of black once she was in the car. She would have already fainted
if not for her sheer willpower.
Her entire body was soaked in sweat.
On the way, she heard the middle–aged man answering a call. “The person’s already dead. Transfer the money to me first.”
“Don’t worry. You’ll get your share.”
The familiar voice jolted Catherine awake. Her entire body trembled uncontrollably.
It was Michelle. So it really was her! She wanted her dead.
Meanwhile, Michelle set her phone down and poured a glass of wine before walking toward Harry. “Harry, let’s go home early and rest. You still need to attend my art exhibition tomorrow.”
He accepted the glass and responded absentmindedly before instinctively picking up phone just as he prepared to shut down his computer.

Four notifications were displayed on the screen, each showing a million–dollar transfer.
He frowned slightly but didn’t think much of it. He stood up and said, “I’ll send you back first.

Michelle nodded. Her smile bloomed as she went to wrap her arms around his arm.
She would be his wife after tonight.
She had spent so much money the last time, yet Catherine had survived without even a scratch. It nearly drove her mad.
But that was fine. There was no way Catherine would live this time.

Her joy lasted barely two minutes before Harry suddenly received a call from the hospital. His expression shifted instantly. He grabbed his car keys and turned around to leave. “Adrian will drive you home. I need to go to the hospital.”
“Harry!” She took a few steps to chase after him, but he was already gone when she looked up again.
She was the only one left in the vast office.
He had left in such a hurry. Something must have happened.
She looked displeased as she left the Zimmerman Group building with her bag. She saw Adrian waiting downstairs and asked casually, “Why did Harry go to the hospital?”
Adrian opened the car door for her. He glanced at her in the rearview mirror. She was expressionless. “Something happened to Mrs. Zimmerman.”
A flicker of triumph flashed in her eyes at his words. She hadn’t expected the news to reach Harry so quickly. She thought it would take until the next morning.
Catherine was still legally his wife. She was dead now. It was natural for him to go and see her one last time.
The corners of her lips curled into a smile. She feigned concern and said, “We should check on her too.”

Catherine was about to die.
Adrian steered the car and softly reminded, “Ms. Stone, Mr. Zimmerman actually cares very much for Mrs. Zimmerman. Besides, they are husband and wife.”
The smile on her face faded. Was he reminding her of her place?
He was merely a lowly assistant. Who was he to tell her what to do?
Her voice was flat, and it even carried a hint of displeasure toward him. “That’s not something you need to concern yourself with. Harry knows what he’s doing.”
Adrian said nothing more and drove her to the hospital.
Michelle shot him a glance and sneered before walking toward Harry.
She found him seated outside the operating room.
The red glowing words filled her with uncontainable joy. The light above the operating room flicked off just as she was about to offer comforting words.

Her heart leapt in excitement.
“Harry, don’t be too sad. You’ve already done enough for her…” Catherine was wheeled out before she could finish her words.
However, Harry’s mind was entirely on Catherine. He didn’t even register what Michelle was saying. His tone was laced with an urgency that he hadn’t even noticed. “How is she?”
