Chapter 34 Catherine’s Suspicion
It was Jeremy.
Catherine hadn’t expected to run into him here. She certainly hadn’t wanted him to see her in
such a wretched state.
She patted her face and smiled before shaking her head and saying, “I’m okay. Pregnancy makes me emotional, that’s all.”
Her nerves had been raw since the accident. She had simply lost control and broken down when Harry made things even more difficult for her.
Jeremy had noticed her earlier, but he hadn’t rushed in then. Instead, he watched her from a distance until she finished crying before approaching her.
It was probably because of Harry again.
He closed his eyes briefly to suppress the jealousy in his eyes before regaining his composure. He took off his coat and draped it around her shoulders. “Why are you dressed so lightly? What if you catch a cold?”
Catherine hadn’t felt cold when crying, but his reminder made her instinctively shiver.
She couldn’t get sick.
She didn’t refuse his coat and said in a lowered voice, “I’ll return it tomorrow. I should go home now.”
With that, she hurried away before he could say anything.
She walked at a fast pace as if she were fleeing in panic.
She didn’t want to see Harry or Jeremy at that moment. She hated being seen when she was feeling so vulnerable.
But both of them had seen that side of her today.
She booked a cheap hotel and slept fitfully that night. Once she had calmed down the next day, she contracted a realtor and arranged to purchase a new place.
She returned to work as usual and returned the coat to Jeremy when she saw him. “Thank you for yesterday.”
Jeremy took it. He opened his mouth and was about to ask something, but he stopped himself as he didn’t want to pick at her wounds. “It was nothing. You’re welcome.”

She smiled. “I’ll get back to work. I’ll talk to you again later.”
He hummed in acknowledgement as he watched her retreating figure.
He had never seen her cry like that.
He had been buried in business when he first took over Bell Group. Harry had swept in and stolen her before he could confess his feelings to her.
He had assumed Harry would treat her well and didn’t expect that he had wounded her deeply
over the years.
Jeremy wouldn’t hesitate to pursue his wife since he didn’t know how to cherish her!
Catherine returned to the company and spent the entire day busy with work, which left her no time to dwell on trivial matters.
She intended to take a break after finishing the current project and planned to start her own company once the baby was born.
Harry called her that afternoon.
She looked at her buzzing phone without answering it.
Harry seemed to have expected that she wouldn’t pick up and sent her a message after hanging up. “Got a lead on who’s behind the car accident.”
She immediately called him back. There was a hint of urgency in her tone. “Who is it?”
He didn’t answer immediately and asked faintly, “When are you coming back?”
“I’m not.” Her voice was low.
His voice turned slightly icy as he sneered. “Maybe you should consider who you’ve offended instead.”
She found his words ironically laughable. There was a hint of sarcasm in her tone. “If we’re talking about the people I offended, the only person I can think of is you, Harry.”
His gaze instantly turned icy. “Do you think I did it?”
She didn’t answer and cut the call.
She certainly didn’t suspect him and was merely enraged by his behavior, so she deliberately made him uncomfortable.
