Chapter 33 Can’t Bear to See Catherine Cry
Catherine and Harry were so close that they would have kissed if they got any closer.
Yet, Catherine felt an extraordinary distance at such proximity.
Although she had shared a bed with him and married him, she never truly felt like he belonged
to her.
She brushed his hand away, and her tone turned icy. “What do you really want?”
“Nothing. Let’s just keep things the way they are now.” Harry rose to his feet. His eyes lingered briefly on her stomach.
Her chest tightened. That was the second time he looked at her stomach.
Was he planning to harm the child?
He saw through her thoughts and sneered. “Relax. I have no interest in your child.”
His words did nothing to reassure her. Her face hardened as she said, “You should go. Don’t come here again.”
He felt genuinely displeased at her dismissive tone and reminded her, “We’re still legally
my married. This is still home.”
“Not for long.” She shoved him toward the door and forced him out.
Harry held the door open by pressing his hand against it just as she was about to slam it shut. He smiled at her. “I’ve decided to stay here until the divorce papers are signed.”
She met his teasing gaze. Her heart trembled, and her eyes reddened. “Sure. I’ll move out then.
་་
Catherine paid no heed to him. Her tears streamed down her cheeks as she turned around.
It had taken everything in her to face reality and finally summon the courage to ask for a divorce. Yet, he kept making things harder for her.
He had helped Michelle make things hard for her and was still forcing her hand even at her most helpless state.
He looked at her trembling shoulders and extended his hands to grab them. “Why are you—
He turned her toward him and saw her tear–streaked face.
The words he had meant to say got caught in his throat.

Chapter 33 Can’t Bear to See Catherine Cry
He had seen her cry before, but that only happened in bed.
He would ignore her pleas and drive himself deeper into her regardless.
However, he couldn’t ignore it now.
She shook his hands off and furiously wiped away the tears on her face. “I’ll move out toc Stay as long as you like.”
She grabbed her phone and bag before brushing past him and walking out.
The door slammed shut behind her.
The exchange landed in his heart like a stone, sending ripples of unrest crashing through h
Catherine had cried.
Had he gone too far?
But compared to what she had done to him, all he had done now was refuse to let her and Jeremy have their way.
Harry impatiently pulled out a cigarette. His hand brushed against a book of prenatal education stories for expectant mothers as he sat down.
He casually flipped a few pages before tossing it aside.
She truly did care deeply about the child.
The thought made him take in a huge pull of smoke. He choked and coughed harshly.
He got up and went to look for her.
But she was already gone.
Catherine wandered through the streets. She looked at the couples walking by hand–in–hand and couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.
Would things between them have turned out differently if she hadn’t acted out of self–interest back then and had sent him straight to the hospital instead of keeping him by her side?
She wouldn’t have ended up here if she hadn’t married him. Maybe her parents wouldn’t have gotten into that car accident on their way to see her.
She wiped away the tears and looked up only to see a napkin held out before her. A familiar voice came above her. “Why are you crying? What happened?”
