Chapter 211

I don’t want to go with Aunt Wendy.Leo lowered his head. He thought that Alexander was fine, just older. They didn’t have much to talk about due to the generation gap, but he still

liked Alexander a lot.

He just didn’t like Wendy and definitely not Gabriella. He never liked playing with Gabriella,

even when he was young.

Sebastian pinched his chubby cheeks, and his round little mouth opened and closed. Please, Uncle Sebastian.”

Sebastian said, Alright, let’s go.”

You’re the best, Uncle Sebastian!Leo hugged Sebastian’s leg, refusing to even let Sebastian change his clothes as he dragged him by the hand to head downstairs.

Downstairs, they happened to run into Alexander and Wendy.

Alexander bent down and ruffled Leo’s hair before picking him up. So, I guess I’m the bad

uncle.”

You’re good too.Leo squirmed around and wrapped his arms around Alexander’s neck. You’re great.”

Alexander looked at Sebastian. You young folks go have fun. Drive safe.”

Sebastian nodded.

When they walked away, Wendy frowned. That kid. I went through the trouble of preparing so many snacks for him, but he didn’t even call me Aunt. He just doesn’t want to go out with

us.”

Alexander asked, Are you really upset over such a small thing? Leo’s still so young.”

Wendy said, I feel like your parents haven’t been very attentive to Gabriella since we came back either. Could it be because Gabriella’s adopted?”

Alexander frowned. Wendy, don’t say things like that.”

Wendy buried herself in his arms. It’s all my fault for not being able to have children. If only we had one of our own.”

Wendy started to hate Jane.even more. If not for the difficult labor when giving birth to her, Wendy wouldn’t have been unable to conceive again. D

The first time she heard Jane’s name, she recognized it right away. That was the daughter she

had with Melvin.

It’s not your fault. Back then, I was the one who failed to hold onto your hand.Alexander sighed softly. Even if Gabriella isn’t our biological child, she’s still our precious daughter. Mom and Dad have always treated us well. You’re just too sensitive.”

Wendy wept uncontrollably. I really wish we could have a child of our own.”

Over the years, she had seen countless doctors, tried countless remedies, and used every method possible.

Alexander held her tightly.

How could he not wish for the same? But fate had decided that they would never have their own child, and he didn’t want this matter to damage their relationship.

Hapturn was crowded with people. A few years ago, the city’s southern district planned out a historic building project.

Weekends already drew plenty of visitors normally, but it was even livelier since it was the holidays. Fireworks blazed overhead, and lights were dancing. There were various cultural exhibitions on the streets.

The crowd bustled, so Sebastian told Leo to stay close.

Not far ahead, there was a fair and a fire show. The place was densely packed with people.

Sebastian was tall, with a wide field of vision. He watched molten iron explode in the air into countless sparks that scattered like stars.

Suddenly, a woman’s face appeared in his sight.

Wearing a red wool coat and with her long hair blowing in the wind, she looked messy but beautiful. She brushed her hair back from her cheek with one hand. She pointed ahead, showing the man beside her where to look.

Fireworks blazed overhead, yet none of it shone brighter than her radiant smile.

The man beside her was holding a little girl as the three of them gazed in the same direction.

An indescribable feeling surged in Sebastian.

Uncle Sebastian, pick me up! I can’t see!Leo tugged at Sebastian’s sleeves, hopping on his toes as he struggled against the wall of people around him. He wanted to see the fireworks too.

Sebastian had no mind for him.

Uncle Sebastian!Leo shouted again, not wanting to give up.

But Sebastian didn’t have any energy or focus left to carry Leo. He could perform openheart surgery and heal the hearts of others, but he couldn’t heal his own.

He slipped one hand into his pocket and turned away, saying coldly, Let’s go. We’re heading back.”

They had just arrived, so there was no way Leo would be willing to leave.

Sebastian forced his face forward and pushed him along, but Leo twisted around and suddenly spotted a familiar figure not far away. He shouted excitedly, Selena! Val!”

Sebastian froze in his tracks.

Leo tore his hand free, and with joy all over his face, he ran straight toward Valeria. He looked at Shane and greeted politely, Hello.”
