Chapter 172 Could He No Longer End It 

At that moment, Curtis finally understood why Sonya had suddenly told him that she was 

pregnant. 

Could he no longer end things between him and Sonya if she was pregnant with his child? 

“This is great!” Lena laughed mockingly. “Curtis, congratulations! You’re about to be a father! Tell me when you have the wedding. I’ll be sure to prepare a huge gift!” 

Curtis stood there, his whole body rigid. He felt as if someone had just doused him with a bucket of cold water. 

How could Sonya have gotten pregnant so quickly? He’d only slept with her a couple of times! 

“Let’s go.” Only when Chloe’s voice rang out did he come to his senses. 

Seeing Chloe leaving, Curtis suddenly rushed over. “Chloe, I—” 

The next moment, Brian blocked his path, stopping him from getting close to her. 

“Let’s go.” Brian then held Chloe’s hand and headed out. 

Ethan furrowed his brow and followed them, while Lena looked at Curtis condescendingly. “How dare you still talk to Chloe? But truth be told, you and Sonya are truly a match made in heaven. Back then, you constantly set Chloe up while enjoying the fruits of her labor. 

“You happily took the money that she earned for you to spend it on Sonya, all while using that stupid excuse of repaying your savior. Ha! Now that you’ve been tricked by your ‘savior‘, you must feel great about it!” 

Lena shot Curtis and Sonya one more look before leaving. 

Curtis sized Sonya up. She was in branded clothes and jewelry, all of which he’d bought for her. 

As Lena had said, Chloe had helped him earn all that money. He’d never known how important Chloe was in his life before. 

But when she left the company, everything fell into chaos. Even the final 50–million–dollar loan he’d gotten had been stolen by Sonya. 

At that thought, his face paled even more than Sonya’s. 

As the police officer was about to take Sonya into the interrogation room, she yelled at Curtis, “Curtis, I’m pregnant with your child! You can’t just abandon me!”

Curtis looked at her straight in the eye, but no matter how much she yelled at him, he never 

responded. 

When she was finally taken to the interrogation room, he stumbled listlessly as if he’d been 

drained of all his energy. 

He lowered his head and laughed bitterly, as if he were thinking of how ridiculous he’d been in the past. 

Chloe and the others left the police station and found a restaurant. 

“What are you planning to do next?” Lena asked. 

“I’m still waiting for word from the special forces. Based on the drone’s footage, they concluded that in the end, Daniel went missing during the fire. They’re currently looking into everyone who got injured and…” 

Chloe trailed off, pursing her lips. She was still unwilling to say the word “died“. It was as if once she said it, it would mean that Daniel had truly died. 

“It makes sense. They would be more efficient in their investigation compared to ordinary police officers or the fire department,” Lena said. 

“I’m going to the border to look for Daniel himself,” Chloe said. 

Lena sighed. Daniel had been missing for five years, and Chloe had been to the border three :imes to look for him. 

‘I’ll come with you,” Lena offered. 

‘No need. I don’t know how long I’ll be there. Besides, you have the company to manage,” Chloe said. “I know I just joined Skyline Tech, but I need to go and find Daniel. I’m afraid I won’t-” 

“Don’t worry about it. Daniel is more important,” Lena said. “The fact that you’re willing to join my company and provide us with those proposals is more than enough for me! I’m just worried that it won’t be safe at the border.” 

Even if Lena knew how good a fighter Chloe was, the border was still a dangerous place. If anything were to happen… 

“I’ll go with her. Don’t worry,” Brian said. 

Chloe was stunned. “I can go on my own. Besides, I don’t know how long I’ll be there.”

Brian said, “I told you before that I’d go with you when you go to the border. You can stay there for as long as you want. Did you really think I would let my girlfriend go there alone?” 

Chloe was at a loss for words. 

Brian held her hand and added, “Or did you think I could bear to be away from you?” He gently brushed his finger along her palm, teasing her flirtatiously. 

Chloe blushed. Lena and Ethan were still with them! 

Lena tutted and said, “Alright, Chloe, I’m more than relieved if Brian will accompany you.” 

Ethan poured two glasses of wine and handed Chloe one. “Clo, now that we’ve finally found out the reason Daniel went missing, I’m sure we’ll find him soon. This is worth celebrating!” Chloe chuckled. “It sure is worth celebrating!” She accepted the glass from Ethan and downed it in one go. Ethan did the same. 

“We’ll also have to celebrate you leaving that scumbag! You shouldn’t have married a man like him!” Ethan poured more wine. 

Lena chimed in, “Curtis‘ expression was so ugly today. He always thought that Sonya was the one who saved him, right? Now that he knows it’s you, do you think he’ll come looking for you?” 

Brian squeezed Chloe’s hand tighter. 

Ethan said, “If he dares to harass Clo, I’ll break his leg!” 

“There’s no need to go through so much trouble and break his leg. Just make sure he can never show up in front of Chloe anymore,” Brian sneered. 

Lena shuddered. These men were completely violent. Any ordinary woman wouldn’t be able to take it. 

“You don’t have to do that,” Chloe said. 

“Why? Are you feeling sorry for him?” Brian asked. 

“No,” Chloe replied. “He might not come and look for me at all. Even if he does, I’ll beat him up myself. I don’t need you two to do it. 

“Good one! A man like Curtis should have been beaten up a long time ago!” Lena said while raising her glass. 

They drank a few rounds. Ethan constantly clinked glasses with Chloe, and she ended up drinking a lot because of him.
