Chapter 93 Supposedly Strangers
A waiter quickly brought Gideon a new fork.
lan drank his tea as he watched Nancy and Gideon interact.
“Have you two met before?” he asked.
“No,” said Nancy.
“Yes,” said Gideon.
They’d both spoken at almost the same time.
Ian looked even more suspicious of them.
Nancy had no choice but to explain, “We’ve met around the neighborhood a few times.”
“Fair enough. It’s such a coincidence that you two live in the same neighborhood,” said Ian, looking over at Gideon. There was no telling if he doubted her claim.
Gideon replied with a smile, “It looks like Nancy and I were meant to get along.”
“It’s just a coincidence. That neighborhood is considered prime land in Riversdale,” Ian retorted before changing the subject, unwilling to dwell on the topic any longer. “What do you think of the auction this time, Mr. Fuller?”
He asked the question tentatively, certain that Gideon would attempt to deflect. Unexpectedly,
Gideon replied sincerely, “There are several decent projects among them. I’m very optimistic
about the last two.”
Ian’s heart sank. As expected, Gideon was eyeing the same projects as they were.
“Which one of the two do you favor, Mr. Fuller?” he asked.
Gideon did not answer immediately. Instead, he looked at Nancy and asked, “What do you think, Nancy?”
“The last one, of course,” Nancy replied honestly.
“Then, I’ll pick the second–last one,” he declared.
Ian couldn’t help but frown, trying to determine whether Gideon was being serious. “Mr. Fuller… Could it be that you think the second–last project holds more potential?”
“In terms of potential, the last project is naturally the better one. However, I consider the Moore family old acquaintances of mine, so there’s no need for us to be at odds with each other,” Gideon explained with a hint of a smile.

Ian wordlessly thought back to the countless times they’d gone head–to–head with each other. Christopher said cheerily, “That’s true. Both the Moores and the Fullers are regarded as one of the major wealthy families. As such, it’d certainly be for the best if both your families could coexist in harmony.”
The food was served at this moment, so the conversation about the auction projects ended
there.
The country–style ribs that Nancy liked were placed quite far from her. She considered reaching over for some but decided against it in the end.
As the daughter of a wealthy family, she had to pay extra attention to etiquette. When attending a gathering, she had to refrain from reaching for dishes too far away from her to avoid coming off as unrefined.
Suddenly, Gideon reached out and spooned a few pieces of the ribs onto her plate. He then filled a bowl of minestrone soup for her.
“You should just eat whatever you want. There aren’t any outsiders here, so you don’t have to stand on ceremony,” Gideon told her with a gentle look in his eyes, his handsome face looking more charming than ever.
“Thank you,” Nancy said politely.
Christopher smiled and commented, “I didn’t expect you to be so considerate, Mr. Fuller.”
Gideon looked away. “I just feel sorry for the daughters of wealthy families. They have to restrain themselves from eating whatever they want. Mr. Moore and I are pretty much old acquaintances already, so I simply regard this meal as a family dinner.”
Freya smiled faintly. “You’re right. We are indeed like a family. Please help yourself to more,
Mr. Fuller.”
Gideon was very polite in his response. “I shall, Mrs. Moore. Thank you.”
By the end of dinner, Nancy was very full. Gideon didn’t stay long either and left as soon as dinner was over.
As she and her parents got into their car, Ian asked solemnly, “Are you and Gideon really not familiar with each other, Nancy?”
Nancy broke out into a cold sweat. She didn’t know how to answer him.
In the end, she finally admitted the truth. “We’ve made contact with each other before, but most of our encounters happened by chance.”
Freya patted Ian. “Judging by Gideon’s attitude today, he’s probably interested in Nancy. She’s
