Chapter 165 Is There Someone Else
Chloe looked over to see Brian walking over to her, his handsome face looking frosty.
Coming to stand beside her, he took her hand and said to Willow icily, “What did I do wrong? Tell me. I really want to know too.”
A chill ran down Willow’s back. She instinctively knew that if she were to say what she’d found out, she wouldn’t walk out of here alive.
What she’d discovered was supposed to be a bargaining chip that helped her turn over a new leaf. She’d been planning to use it to take advantage of Brian so that she could regain her standing in the Quall family.
“Brian, I–I just thought that… if one day you really do wrong Chloe, knowing her, she won’t understand you at all. She’ll surely choose to break up with you. An unforgiving woman like her shouldn’t be with you.
“You need someone who truly loves and understands you, someone who chooses to stand by your side no matter what you do!” Willow retorted.
Brian’s expression turned ugly, and his lips pursed into a fine line.
Willow was clearly hinting at something. Did she know something? Willow had been with him
at the border. She’d also met Daniel before!
At that thought, Brian’s hand, which was holding Chloe’s, trembled a little.
Chloe looked at Brian in confusion. She squeezed his hand to soothe him and then turned to Willow. “You have no right to comment on anything that happens between Brian and me. If you continue with this, I can’t guarantee that you won’t end up in the hospital!”
Willow looked terrified. “Are you threatening me?”
“I’m just being serious,” Chloe said calmly, but her glare sent chills down Willow’s back. She had a strong feeling that Chloe might actually get violent with her.
Chloe turned to Brian and said, “Let’s go.”
Brian nodded.
Willow looked at them leaving, indignation gleaming in her eyes.
She hadn’t come all this way just to let Chloe and Brian be together! She’d sacrificed an eye and waited so many years to finally get close to Brian, yet she’d started losing everything the moment Chloe showed up.
“Chloe, don’t you want to know if Brian has someone else in his heart?” Willow yelled

“Brian always had a girl in his heart. She’d once saved his life. He’s been looking for her all these years. Aren’t you afraid he’ll just dump you once he finds her?”
Chloe suddenly stopped in her tracks. At that moment, she felt Brian’s hand stiffen. His breathing accelerated, and his face drained of all color too.
Did that mean Willow was telling the truth? At least about how he’d been searching for the girl who’d saved his life?
“Chloe, 1-” Brian tried to explain himself.
“We’ll talk about it at home.” Chloe stopped him, raising her hand. Then, she let go of his hand and walked over to Willow.
The moment she let go of him, Brian felt as if the warmth she usually gave him was suddenly gone as well. It was as if they were slowly drifting further apart.
A strong sense of unease grew in him. He felt as if one day, she would leave him like this too.
No! She couldn’t do that to him.
He opened his mouth, wanting to shout, but he couldn’t find his voice.
By then, Chloe was already in front of Willow.
Willow forced herself to calm down, looking at Chloe with a smug raised chin. “Are you willing to listen to me now? Chloe, I’m telling the truth. That girl’s the person Brian truly loves. If she returns, you’ll be nothing to him!”
Chloe raised her hand and slapped Willow right on the cheek. A red handprint instantly appeared on Willow’s carefully made–up face.
She gritted her teeth in pain and glared at Chloe. “How dare you hit me? I’ll call the police!”
Yet, Chloe just struck her yet again.
Willow was in so much pain she could barely speak.
Chloe looked at her icily and said, “Call the cops all you want. But what makes you think I’ll allow you to constantly insult and belittle me?”
“That’s because… I–I…” Willow was in pain. She looked past Chloe and met with Brian’s gaze not far behind her.
Brian had a murderous look in his eyes. It was like his gaze was telling her he would really kill her if she continued to stay for a second longer. It wouldn’t be just as simple as two slaps then.
She knew she had to leave right away, no matter what. So, she gritted her teeth in resentment

and left quickly.
Chloe turned around and walked back to Brian. “Let’s go home.”
“Okay,” he croaked.
Just like that, they returned to the apartment in silence. The moment they entered, Chloe took off her coat and turned to look at the pale–faced Brian.
“Is what Willow said true?”
Brian stood there stiffly. He seemed to freeze under her stare.
“Don’t lie to me.” Chloe said, “I’ve said it before. I want a relationship where we can trust each other. Once you lie, you’ll be destroying the trust between us. And I don’t know how to spend the rest of my life with someone I don’t trust.
Brian pursed his lips tightly. After a while, he said, “When I was young, I once got caught in a riot abroad. Back then, a young girl saved my life, but I can’t remember what she looked like.
“I was really young, and much of my memory from back then is a blur. I’ve indeed been trying to look for her all these years.”
“So, you’ve always been missing her?” Chloe asked.
“Yes, I do miss her. I want to find her. If she needs money, I’ll give her money and make sure she has a carefree life. If she’s in trouble, I want to help her solve her problems. It’s my way of repaying her for saving my life,” Brian said.
“Then…” Chloe paused for a while. Her whole body was tense. She hadn’t expected to be this
nervous about his answer.
Her voice trembled slightly as she finally asked, “If you find her one day and she confesses her feelings to you, what would you do? If she says she wants to be with you, can you honestly say that you’d feel nothing at all?”
