Magic 94

Lucius felt like an abandoned orphan.

Valerie had just faced life and death by his side. Yet, after landing safely, she walked away without so much as a backward glance.

Even Silas, who was usually so detached, couldn’t help but cast Valerie another look. After enduring such a disaster, she could still carry herself with such composure. It was hard not to admire her courage.

Mr. White, let’s get you to the hospital for treatment first.”

The reason why Valerie left so hastily was that there was something important she had to handle personally.

The old building at Arcton University was about to be demolished, and she had to find someone to move everything out of her laboratory as quickly as possible.

According to her prior arrangement, today was the moving day.

Everett had sent her a message. Thanks to the tireless effort he had put in, calling in favors and pulling strings, the property given to her by the Woodward family had finally been

transferred under her name.

Now that she had a house of her own, Valerie immediately had Everett arrange movers to help

with the relocation.

Fortunately, the old mansion was in a sparsely populated area. So, when the movers carried out one piece of lab equipment after another, it didn’t attract the university’s attention.

Valerie had already informed the dean. Upon learning that Valerie had found a new place for her lab, Philip expressed his delight over the phone. He even mentioned that the medicine she had given him before had proven astonishingly effective.

A few days ago, Philip had nearly been rushed to the emergency room with heart trouble. In desperation, he swallowed one of the black pills, and it had saved his life,

To celebrate his narrow escape, his family unanimously decided to take him on an overseas trip for some relaxation.

Over the phone, Philip cheerfully told Valerie that he was currently at a private island abroad, enjoying sunshine and waves.

His smug tone left Valerie feeling both amused and exasperated. She reminded him to stay

safe and take care of his health before ending the call.

Meanwhile, Everett was directing the movers to place all the lab equipment into a room that had been prepared in advance.

The old mansion covered more than 15 thousand square feet of land. Due to years of neglect, many parts of it showed signs of decay.

But Valerie didn’t mind. What she valued wasn’t the house’s appearance, but the practical benefits it offered.

To outsiders, this was just an unremarkable old house. Only Valerie knew this was a site of great fortune, where an expert had once laid a wealthgathering array years ago.

It wasn’t until 1:00 pm that the movers finally settled their payments and left one by one.

Carrying two takeout meals and drinks, Valerie called out to the busy Everett. Let’s eat first. Everything else can wait.

In the dustcovered living room, they cleared a table and dug into the takeout, not caring about how good it tasted. Filling their stomachs came first.

As they ate, Valerie said, Can those workers you found be trusted?”

Everett understood what she meant. Don’t worry, they’re all our people. They know what can or can’t be said.”

Everett was a top lawyer, and he had made them sign confidentiality agreements before the move. Breaking those terms would mean facing the law.

The workers had received generous pay and were well aware of Everett’s reputation in the legal world. Naturally, none of them dared to cross a man of his stature.

Valerie nodded. I don’t want outsiders to know that this old mansion is the new lab site.”

Every experiment she conducted touched upon matters of life and death, sometimes even matters of national security. She had no intention of inviting unnecessary trouble because of irrelevant people.

Everett had a general understanding of what Valerie was working on, and naturally, he also understood the concerns weighing on her heart.
