Fortunately, there was still half a tank of fuel left in the helicopter, which should be enough to carry them back to land. 

At this point, Lucius had no choice but to completely revise his impression of Valerie. 

Back when Noah had excitedly told him that Valerie had single–handedly picked out three rough stones that contained beautiful emeralds, he should have already regarded her differently. 

Now, thinking back on everything, Lucius seemed to catch faint traces he had overlooked before. At The Golden Chalice, when Sonia tried to injure Valerie with a dart, her lightning – fast reaction stunned everyone present. 

On the cruise ship, Valerie had utterly ruined Sonia’s reputation. And even during the hijacking incident, she had remained calm and composed. 

He almost forgot—just last year, Valerie had entered Arcton University with a perfect score, too, majoring in Biological Sciences. 

With such intelligence and ability, could Valerie really be the ignorant, uneducated bumpkin Sonia tried to paint her as? 

To his surprise, Valerie flew the helicopter very steadily. During the flight, she even 

established contact with the ground and confirmed their landing spot. 

It wasn’t until Valerie finished her call that Lucius suddenly realized something. “You have a phone?” 

Valerie replied, “Is it so strange to have a phone?” 

“Since you had your phone with you, why didn’t you take it out last night?” Lucius pressed. 

“It was out of battery back then.” 

Still, Lucius frowned. “It was out of battery last night, but it has power now?” 

Pointing at her phone with her chin, Valerie explained, “This one has special features. It can be solar–charged in emergencies.” 

Though something still felt off, Lucius reluctantly accepted the explanation. “Who did you just contact?” 

“Keane.” 

Lucius had countless questions left, but before he could voice them, the helicopter, which had been flying smoothly, suddenly lurched.

Valerie quickly checked the dashboard and calmly stated, “The fuel tank is leaking. The helicopter might not be able to land safely.” 

Even in the face of danger, she showed no trace of fear. Her tone was steady, as if she were merely commenting on the weather. 

Her strength, courage, intelligence, and composure made Lucius fall deeper under her spell. 

Fastening his seatbelt as tightly as possible, he wrapped his arm tightly around Valerie. Just before the helicopter went down, he jumped off with Valerie. 

As the ground rushed closer, a whole team had already gathered for their arrival. There were rescue vehicles and even ambulances on standby. Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Lucius and Valerie landed safely. 

Keane, Silas, and the rest quickly swarmed over, their faces filled with worry. 

Keane said, “I heard Mr. White was injured. Where is the wound? Is it serious?” 

At the same time, Silas was barking out orders, “Assemble the medical team immediately. Prepare emergency treatment. Not a second is to be wasted!” 

The moment Lucius touched the ground, his men surrounded him tightly. 

Meanwhile, Valerie swiftly unfastened the ropes on her, removed her sunglasses, and casually tossed them to Keane. 

Keane barely caught them in time. “Ms. Collins…” 

Before he could say more, Valerie cut him off, pointing toward Lucius. “His heart suffered hypoxic compression, and his right leg was grazed by debris. The skin is broken, but the bone’s intact. He has taken two emergency pills–one for his heart, and the other is anti- inflammatory.” 

After relaying this as quickly as possible, Valerie waved to Keane. “The rest is up to you. I’ve got something else to do, so I’ll leave first.” 

Surrounded by guards, Lucius couldn’t move freely because of his injured leg, and he was unable to chase after her. “Valerie, wait…” 

All that answered him was the sight of Valerie’s figure growing smaller in the distance.
