Chapter 176

Meanwhile, at Aurum, Sebastian was lying on a fancy lounge in a private room on the third floor while a few of his friends played cards. He kept his eyes closed as he drifted between sleep and consciousness.

A young

hostess came over with a drink and spoke up sweetly. Hey, Mr. Grant.”

Sebastian ignored her, seemingly sound asleep. Simon then walked over and took the glass from the hostess before waving her away.

She looked at Sebastian reluctantly and lingered for a little longer before leaving.

Simon noticed that Sebastian had been looking extremely grim ever since they arrived. He had known Sebastian since they were young, so he could easily tell that Sebastian was having a lot on his mind.

He held out the glass to Sebastian and asked, Want a drink?”

Sebastian pulled out his phone and took a look at the time. He barely even lifted his eyelids as he silently refused the drink.

Several more men were inside the room, all of them familiar faces whom he had grown up with, especially Mark, a social butterfly who demanded hangouts every three to five days.

Meanwhile, at the card table, Mark tossed his cards to the side after getting a bad hand. Another young man beside him then asked, Is Mr. Grant having something on his mind? He hasn’t been looking all that good ever since he arrived.”

Another man whispered, He looks like he’s going through a breakup.”

The lively atmosphere within the private room dampened a little.

The people playing cards were no longer being rowdy, and the people singing karaoke were no longer singing loudly.

Mark scoffed and asked, Breakup? Since when has Sebastian ever been in love?”

Didn’t he fall for a married woman recently?”

Mark replied, Nonsense. Everyone was drunk that night, Sebastian included. It’s nothing.”

Makes sense. There’s no way Sebastian would go for a married woman. Anyway, Mark, are you still playing or what? Trying to run after winning once?”

Mark then whispered under his breath, I think I was just like this when I had a breakup.”

He then stood up and let someone else take his place at the table.

Mark then walked over to Sebastian to try and start a conversation.

He shot Simon a look and whispered, Is it really a breakup? Who? That married woman? That’s good news, isn’t it?”

Simon frowned and shook his head. He did not know the details, but it was clear that Sebastian

was in a foul mood.

He signaled Mark not to fuel the fire by accidentally saying the wrong thing.

Mark, however, was loyal to a fault, albeit a little foolish. He spoke up. Sebastian, there’s plenty of fish in the sea. There’s no need to cling to that one specific fish.”

He always felt that Valeria was more akin to a piranha. Worse of all, she was not even Sebastian’s woman to begin with.

Cutting her off was for the best.

Valeria already had a husband and a daughter. Mark could not even imagine the consequences

if news about Sebastian and her was leaked.

He reckoned that he would see trending headlines such as Shocking News: Heir of an Elite Family Caught Trying to Steal a Married Womanand The Richest Man’s Son is a

Homewrecker.

Mark shuddered at the thought of being branded as a male homewrecker. It would be used against Sebastian, making it impossible for him to ever clear his name.

It would be the most humiliating thing for a man.

Such news would definitely be viral online, perhaps even outshining news about celebrity

scandals.

If that happened, Sebastian would become the topic of gossip in Slate City for an extremely long time.

Mark continued, Sebastian, you need to get back on the right track.”

Simon kicked Mark in response. He could not believe that Mark had actually said those words aloud, reckoning that Mark must have had too much to drink.

However, Mark was still unwilling to give up on giving out his advice just yet. Sebastian, I’m telling you this as your friend. If Valeria’s husband finds out about this, they’ll be

blackmailing you endlessly for it.

And if news about this gets exposed, the Grant Group’s stock will take a hit as a result. If Nicholas and Martha hear about this”

Sebastian would not be able to show his face in public ever again.

It would become the Grant family’s biggest scandal to date, as there had never been a case of an heir of the socalled richest family being a homewrecker.

Sebastian leaned back into the dark green leather couch, his expression ghostly pale while he kept his eyes closed.

He heard every word that Mark had just said, but he was too overwhelmed by his feelings to respond.

He just remained silent.
