Because of what Nancy said, Filbert was hit right in the spot he feared–and hurt–the most. 

Furious and humiliated, he had her strung up outside the rooftop terrace for a full day and night.

No matter how much he refused to admit it out loud, deep down, he knew better than anyone else he might never be forgiven.

He brought me back with him to France.

They were the deeds and proof of ownership for all his assets. 

With steady eyes, he told me, “In the past ten years, I swear, there hasn’t been another woman in my life. I’ve been waiting for you. 

“Felicia, you know I’ve loved you since we were kids. I never forgot you. I never let go of that promise we made ten years ago. If you’re willing to look back, you’ll see that I’ve always been right here.”

Our families had been close for generations, and Logan and I grew up together.

Ten years ago, his parents moved to France to focus on their business, and he had no choice but to move with them. 

Before he left, he made me a promise. 

“Felicia, if ten years pass and you’re still single–and you want to–just come to France. I’ll marry you.” 

I was young back then, too young to entrust my future to a single promise. 

I told myself I’d wait a couple of years before deciding. 

But then everything changed–my family fell into chaos, and Filbert barged into my life. Slowly, my contact with Lo- gan faded away. 

When I called him recently, I did so on a whim, not expecting anything in return. 

What I didn’t expect was that he had kept his promise, waiting for me just like he said he would, for ten whole years. 

This past month, he hired a therapist to help me heal, gave up all work, and stayed by my side day and night. 

Thanks to his care and quiet support, I was finally able to escape the nightmare Filbert left me with.

On Christmas Day, surrounded by friends and family, I took the initiative and proposed to Logan.
