Chapter 100
Zachary asked, “Do you want some steak?”
Jessica nodded in response.
“Wait for me here.” Zachary thus got up and walked toward the buffet line not far away.
There were already chefs stationed at the grill, so all he had to do was take a number and wait.
“I’m going to the washroom. I’ll be back in a bit,” she told him.
“Sure.”
Watching him leave, she turned around and headed to the washroom. But before she reached her destination, a cold hand grabbed her and yanked her into a secluded room in a corner.
The force almost made her trip in her heels. Struggling to maintain her balance, she focused on the person in front of her and realized it was Derrick.
He closed the door behind them. Since this was a public area, the room couldn’t be locked.
Thus, he blocked the door with his body, preventing her from leaving.
But Jessica didn’t panic at all. She sat on a chair not far away, casually massaging her legs.
“Mr. Quinton, don’t you think this is a bit inappropriate?”
“Jess, do you hate me that much?”
“No, I don’t hate you.”
“You were mad because I got involved with Celine, weren’t you? You were jealous,” Derrick said. “That means you still love me, right? So that’s why you hooked up with some man to punish me.”
He grew agitated, but Jessica intervened calmly, saying, “Let’s not dredge up the past, shall we? It’s sickening.”
She was upset, yes, but not because of him. She’d entrusted her feelings to the wrong person,
after all.
“How much did Zachary pay you to make you his sugar baby?”
His question came as an utter shock to Jessica. She never expected him to stoop so low.
She scoffed, so enraged that she couldn’t speak.
“Jess, I can give you whatever he’s offering you,” Derrick continued. “Is 100,000 dollars a month enough?”

“Are you trying to keep me as your sugar baby?” Jessica couldn’t believe her ears.
“Why can’t I when Zachary could?” he spat, eyes bloodshot with fury.
“Because you’re dirty,” she retorted calmly. “You calculate everything the people around you, your career, and your reputation. You never once thought about me at all. You were afraid of a lot of things, but not of losing me.”
She got up and prepared to leave. Communicating with him was a waste of her time and effort.
“150,000 dollars,” Derrick gritted out.
Did he think he was at an auction?
Jessica looked him in the eye, unable to believe that those words had actually come out of his
mouth.
“Derrick, don’t make me look down on you any more than I already do.”
“200,000 dollars!”
A laugh escaped Jessica’s lips. Bewilderment filled her eyes as she stared at him. He actually believed she was a sugar baby.
“Derrick, I don’t even consider you my ex,” she snapped. “If you were rich, capable, and hot, then maybe I’d consider it. But you’re none of those things.
“At most, you’re just a mistake I made!”
Not wanting to waste another second on Derrick, she stormed toward the door and yanked
him aside. Just as she was about to leave, he grabbed her hand and pulled her back.
He wasn’t going to let her walk away just like that.
With a loud yelp, Jessica stumbled forward, her heel twisting at an awkward angle. A crack sounded, and she propped herself up against the table.
A knot formed between her brows as she bit her lower lip, a jolt of searing pain shooting through her ankle.
“Jess, what do I have to do for you to come back to me?”
“Derrick, do your dad and Celine know that you’re trying to keep me as your sugar baby with 200,000 dollars?”
She snorted. “Forget 200,000. Can you even afford 100,000? You’re using your dad’s credit card for all your expenses. Have you ever earned a cent on your own?”
She hadn’t wanted to be so harsh, but his toxic love was suffocating her.
Carefully, she lowered herself into the chair to ease the pain in her ankle. She didn’t dare show her vulnerability, afraid that he’d notice it and use it as leverage over her.
Derrick froze. She’d changed, he realized. As soon as she returned and started working at Jonest, she’d become a completely different person.
She was constantly swamped with work. The numbers in her bank account grew, and she bought a car in full in just less than six months.
All of this must have had something to do with Zachary. She must’ve been involved with him long ago.
Rage and defiance overwhelmed Derrick.
Sasha, who was in the room next door, had been listening in on their conversation. So it turned out that Jessica was Zachary’s sugar baby.
