Chapte    

There was something Zachary had once said to her in Sylvaria. “Looks like I’ll have to work harder to get you to pamper me willingly.” 

Of course, those who had read a few more books always knew how to talk pretty. Even when he was being suggestive, it somehow sounded poetic. 

Jessica stood frozen in place, her cheeks instantly turning red. Was he being a gentleman, or was he just really good at playing games? 

Saying yes felt too forward, while saying no felt unfair to him. The pressure had come out of nowhere. Men always left the hardest choice to women to deal with, including this instance. 

She turned toward him, looked him in the eye, then slowly wrapped her arms around his firm waist. “Fine. I’ll let you have a little taste.” 

In just two seconds, she let go and walked out like nothing happened. 

Zachary didn’t even get the chance to hold Jessica back before she slipped out of his touch. She strutted away in her heels, walking off like nothing happened. 

Zachary inwardly groaned. That was considered “a little taste“? Fine, he would take it. Progress was progress, after all. 

His eyes darkened, smoldering with hunger, much like a starved beast drawn to its prey. His gaze was locked onto her as he followed her all the way to the car. 

“By the way, my car’s in a garage getting fixed. Do you have something a bit more… ordinary I can drive?” 

Jessica glanced sideways from the passenger seat, watching Zachary focus on the road. Their underground garage was filled with cars worth hundreds of thousands, even millions, half of which she couldn’t even name. 

“What’s wrong with your car?” 

“I got rear–ended-” 

Zachary cut her off, giving her a once–over, eyes full of concern. “Did you get hurt?” 

“No, I’m fine. My car, on the other hand, might take a while to get fixed.” 

“Sure. I’ll have someone send you a car tomorrow.” 

“Thanks.” 

The couple soon arised at the grocery store’s parking lot. Zachary stayed in the car, still on a call, while jeseca got out first, not wanting to interrupt him 

As soon as she alighted, she spotted Celine getting out of a car nearby. 

Celine looked slightly better than before. Her complexion had improved, and the light makeup gave her a fresher look. She wore a loose wool coat, which hardly revealed that she was 

pregnant. 

Jessica smirked, pretending not to notice her. Of course, she was called out all the same. 

Celine’s voice carried a mocking tune. “Jessica.” 

Oh, well. 

“Good to see you, Ms. Leroy.” 

Celine’s smug smile instantly vanished, though she quickly recovered, as if it didn’t faze her at all. She raised her chin, retaining that condescending tone as she spoke. 

“Hey, is your postpartum rest over? Where’s that man of yours?” 

She didn’t speak foully about Zachary like she did last time, probably still haunted by that slap. 

Jessica glanced behind her at the car she had just stepped out of. Clearly, Celine hadn’t recognized it as one of Zachary’s. If she had, she would’ve run in the opposite direction. 

“Maybe stop thinking about another woman’s man while you’re pregnant? Your baby might 

not like it.” 

Celine gulped, visibly fuming. “You think I’m like you, climbing into your boss‘ bed?” 

“Please, I’d never be you.” Jessica clapped back, jeering, “I don’t take in trash, but you? You fight to pick up what I tossed out without a word of complaint.” 

She didn’t raise her voice or curse, but every word landed like a slap across Celine’s face. 

Celine wasn’t having any of it. She sneered, stretching her neck. “And you can’t even keep a man. Why don’t you worry about that instead?” 

Jessica smirked. “I’ll take that as a compliment. Good men don’t need to be kept. Those who leave are just trouble I’m better off without. So, really, thanks for taking that mess off my 

hands.” 

She crossed her arms, giving off a cold, untouchable femme fatale vibe. Today, she wore a white blouse tucked into a high–waisted leather skirt, with a black wool coat draped over her 

shoulders. 

Her icy gaze swept Celine up and down like a laser.
