Chapter 22
Now that he had recognized her, there was no longer any need to hide.
Seraphina removed her hat, revealing a stunningly beautiful face. A small smile played on her lips. “It’s me. But I go by Seraphina Beaumont now.”
She stood up, poised and confident. “Mr. Kingsley, allow me to reintroduce myself. I am the eldest daughter of the Beaumont family, and Spencer’s fiancée.”
Instantly, Caspian’s eyes turned red. “Fiancée?”
“Seraphina, I am your husband. You can only be my wife.”
As he spoke, he lunged to grab her, but Spencer intercepted him, his voice heavy with warning.
“Mr. Kingsley, have some self-respect. Seraphina is my fiancée now.”
Caspian was mad with jealousy. His dark eyes narrowed, his fists clenched, and his words were like daggers.
Your fiancée? Mr. Hayes, are you not aware that Miss Beaumont and I are married? We have a marriage certificate to prove it.”
‘Our marriage is protected by law. What you’re doing now, Mr. Hayes, makes you nothing but a homewrecker.”
Men understand men best. They know exactly where to strike to inflict the most pain.
The room was in an uproar.
My God, so Mr. Kingsley was in love with the adopted daughter all along! No, wait, she’s the Beaumont heiress now.”
‘And they were legally married? Then what was all that with Thalia Anderson?”
Someone nearby whispered, “Keep your voice down! Isn’t there enough drama already?”
Although the Kingsley family couldn’t compare to the Hayes or Beaumont families, they were still a force in Westwood, not people to be trifled with.
After provoking Spencer, Caspian gazed at Seraphina with an expression of deep affection, his lips barely moving.
Seraphina, I know you’re angry with me. But rest assured, I’ve completely settled things with the Andersons. From now on, I have nothing to do with Thalia or
er family.”
And didn’t you used to love plum blossoms? I’ve planted them all over the yard at home. And your favorite dolls, and all the food you like, I’ve bought verything. It’s all at home, just waiting for you to come back.”
Too little, too late. That would be Caspian.
f he had said this to her a few months ago, she would have been incredibly moved. But now, she just found it laughable.
eraphina stared at Caspian and said, word by word, “Mr. Kingsley, are you not aware that today is the last day of our divorce cooling-off period?”
In two hours, that period will be over, and we will no longer have any legal connection to each other.”
As for Kingsley Corp, while I’m not interested in running it, I am very interested in seeing you utterly ruined, penniless, and thrown out on the street.”
Every word from Seraphina was like a sharp knife twisting in his heart.
t was painful, but not fatal.
The blood in Caspian’s veins turned to ice. He had never imagined Seraphina could hate him this much.
But thinking back on everything, he knew he was the one who had been wrong. He accepted that.
Caspian fought back tears, his gaze lowered in apology. “It was my fault. However you want to punish me, I’ll accept it. If you want Kingsley Corp., take it. Even if you want the shares I hold, I’ll give them to you.”
“Seraphina, I know I was wrong. Please, come back.”
Hearing his words, Seraphina’s sneer only widened, though a glint of moisture appeared in her eyes.
な
It wasn’t love. It was grief for the years she had wasted.
Seraphina’s voice was crystal clear, each word deliberate. “Caspian, you are not worthy.”
