Chapter 966
“Besides, I’ll be able to stay on top of things if I live in the Kalen estate,” Sharon said.
At once, Wendy understood what Sharon meant. If she lived under the same roof, Sharon would be the first to know which
companies the Kalen family partnered with, what major events unfolded, and where power shifted.
Since she intended to fight for control, knowledge was essential. To know herself and her enemies, she needed proximity. Living
in the Kalen estate would give her exactly that.
Wendy understood the logic, yet worry still clouded her face. After a moment’s hesitation, she said, “Then let me apply for a position as a servant in the Kalen household. That way, if anything happens, I can be there right away to help you.”
She had considered renting a place nearby, but the Kalen estate was vast. There were no houses in the immediate vicinity-only private roads leading in and out, impossible to access without permission. If Sharon were in danger, Wendy could never reach her
in time. 1
But Sharon would never allow her to stoop so low. “Wendy, really, there’s no need. I’m still their family. They won’t harm me.”
After much persuasion, Sharon finally convinced Wendy to abandon the idea of disguising herself as a servant.
At the Kalen estate, Richard convened a family meeting to announce Sharon’s imminent return.
Scott and Silas showed little reaction; they had long suspected this outcome. After all, Richard and Rick had stayed in Zachemaine for months precisely to bring her back.
But when Richard added one more detail, both brothers’ expressions darkened.
“Sharon will be joining Kalen Group.”
Scott frowned. “Sharon? Working at Kalen Group? She’s spent her whole life playing music, never once touched business. What could she possibly contribute?”
Silas chimed in, his tone sharp. “Dad, Rick… Sharon doesn’t know her place, and you indulge her? What sense is there in this?”
Rick interjected calmly, “You’ve surely heard about her recent kidnapping. She can’t play violin anymore. With nothing else to do, she wants to spend some time working at Kalen Group.”
Scott’s voice was like ice. “I disagree. I don’t want to clean up after her mistakes.”
Silas sneered. “So she’s bored now and wants to use Kalen Group to make herself feel important? Dad, Rick… wasn’t she the one who loved being a housewife, raising her son, and serving her husband? Now that she’s divorced and lonely, why not introduce her
to a few men? That would keep her too busy to meddle here.”
He paused, then added pointedly, “Scott is right. If she joins the company, she’ll only cause trouble. Worse, those stubborn old

men in the boardroom might exploit her for their own ends.”
His words gave Rick pause. Silas’s mind was quick, his angles of thought different from others’. And this time, he had a point.
Turning to his father, Rick said, “Dad, perhaps Silas is right. Sharon is newly divorced, injured, and unable to play music. She’s idle, that’s why she’s clinging to the idea of working at Kalen Group. If we introduce her to a few promising young men, her focus
might shift elsewhere.”
Richard frowned. “But I already spoke with Sharon. She told me she doesn’t want to be involved in romance again, at least not for
now.”
Silas countered immediately, “That’s only because Carter betrayed her. She’s disappointed in love, nothing more. But think about
it-she endured his affair for so long without divorcing. That alone proves she’s a hopeless romantic. 1
“And a hopeless romantic will always be a hopeless romantic.”
