Sharon wasn’t sure whether Jamie would target John due to their relationship. She needed John to be
on his guard.
John ground his teeth, fury and grief sharpening his voice. “Sharon, I’ll avenge you-
Sharon cut him off. “Don’t.”
She met his gaze. “I’ll join the Kalen Group, and I’ll deal with Jamie myself. John, we’re not his match right now. Don’t act rashly.”
John’s jaw tightened. “I understand. Sharon, trust me, I’ll know what to do.”
After all, Jamie was head of the Walton family; he could marshal the clan’s resources and power in a way John could not. Even if John later became head of his own family, he wouldn’t, in the short term, be able to move with the same freedom as Jamie.
Before the two of them arrived, Sharon had seen Wendy, Carter, and Xavier.
Now Casey glanced around the ward and asked, “Sharon, where’s Thomas? I didn’t see him earlier.” She had assumed Thomas was staying with Sharon in the hospital.
“He had some matters to deal with. He hasn’t come back yet,” Sharon replied.
No sooner had she finished speaking than someone knocked on the ward door. Thomas stepped in.
“Thomas, are you done with what you had to do?” Sharon asked.
“Mhm.” Fatigue showed across Thomas’s face. “How are you feeling now? Any better?”
Sharon nodded. Seeing the exhaustion on his face, she said, “Thomas, you should go home and rest
today.”
He shook his head. “No need. I can’t sleep anyway.”
Casey knew of Thomas’s insomnia; he only slept when soothed by the sound of Sharon’s violin. Now, he would never hear that again.
Casey and John didn’t stay long in the ward. The news that Sharon could no longer play had hit them both hard, Casey didn’t want to break down in front of her; John didn’t want Sharon to see his grief
and guilt. So, they left.
After they went, Thomas remained, silent and motionless in the room.
Sharon looked at him. “Thomas, did something happen?”
Ever since he’d come in, she hadn’t seen him smile. No wonder Wendy had said he’d seemed strange

Thomas’s gaze traveled slowly, appraising every inch of her face. His voice came out oddly hoarse.

Sharon recalled what Wendy had told her and asked tentatively, “Thomas, now that you’ve recovered your memory… what are your plans?”

Thomas looked at her, then asked instead, “What about you? What are your plans?”
Sharon didn’t conceal her answer. “Once I recover, I’ll join the Kalen Group.”
