Chapter 71
“Ms. Lockman,” Evelyn began.
She wore a white V–neck dress that hugged her curves, accentuating her chest. She had a curvy figure, long black hair that fell over her shoulders, and pearl earrings that added to her polished presence.
Jessica, on the other hand, wore nothing fancy. She had on white sneakers, tight jeans, and a pale blue sweater that almost showed her shoulders. Jessica looked fresh and innocent, while Evelyn appeared confident and mature.
Evelyn leaned back in her chair and turned slightly, taking in the comfort of the office tower.
“Ms. Sutton,” Jessica greeted.
“Don’t be so formal. Just call me Evelyn like before,” she said.
“Okay,” Jessica replied without hesitation.
For the next ten minutes, they talked about small, meaningless things.
Jessica found it strange. They had clearly overheard the conversation earlier, so why was Evelyn acting so relaxed?
Jessica had no idea where Evelyn had gotten the information, but Evelyn seemed certain that Zachary didn’t like anyone. In the past two weeks, he hadn’t even glanced at Jessica, let alone shown any interest in having a relationship.
Just as Jessica had said before, every woman in the office liked Zachary, and Jessica was only one of many who had a crush on him, especially at that moment. Since Jessica didn’t pose any threat, Evelyn seemed completely at ease.
On Saturday, Jessica slept until noon. By the time she arrived at Richard’s store, it was already
3:00 pm.
She ironed the finished suit jacket and the two white shirts with care.
When she rolled up her sleeve, her pale nails followed the delicate tulip embroidery on the collar, and a small smile appeared on her face. Her embroidery skill was impressive, having earned her several intangible cultural heritage awards.
“You must have put a lot of thought into designing these two suits,” Richard said, holding a teacup as he stood beside her and studied the clothes. “Your talent shouldn’t be wasted as a small designer under him. Is he blind not to notice it?”

Jessica glanced at him and flashed a faint, knowing smile. “I just want some peace. I’m fine being a junior designer.”
“Why don’t you come work for me? I’m getting old and can’t keep the store running much longer,” Richard said, clearly hinting that he wanted Jessica to take over his studio.
Jessica froze.
This studio had been running for decades and was very well–known. Even people in the fashion industry struggled to get a piece of fabric from them. Monthly profits ran into millions of dollars, and taking on new orders was purely up to Richard’s mood.
How could he casually offer her this enormous business?
“Mr. Jones Senior, is this tea from 52 Degree Cafe?” Jessica asked, pursing her lips as she carefully smoothed out the wrinkles in the clothes and folded them neatly before placing them into the bag.
Richard only chuckled in response.
Jessica stayed at Richard’s place for dinner.
Before heading to Titan Bar, she changed into a modified dress she had made herself.
It was an off–the–shoulder dress that revealed her delicate collarbones, and the lower half featured a graceful slit. A pale yellow gourd–shaped clasp fastened the slit perfectly, emphasizing her slim waist.
She wore the pearl necklace Richard had given her a few days ago. It had three pearls, one large and two small. Two matching pearls hung from her ears. She looked both elegant and poised.
She brushed her hair aside and pinned it up with a simple hairpin. For parties like this, the design and PR departments usually dressed the flashiest, so Jessica’s outfit was considered quite conservative.
At 8:00 pm,

Richard was driven home by the butler, and Jessica set off in her car toward Titan
Before she could get there, disaster struck.
She was rear–ended, and the car that hit her belonged to Robert Fulton. Both of them stood inside waiting while his assistant handled the situation.
