Chapter 50
It was still early in the morning. Joshua and Zachary were going over some files, quietly discussing something. Meanwhile, Susan had gone to grab some coffee.
Sitting across from Jessica, Eric glanced at her, then moved a fried egg from his plate to hers.
“You didn’t eat much. Here, have this. I took a little too much from the buffet line earlier. Wouldn’t want to be starving when we get to Fashion Week, would you?”
Jessica felt a little awkward. She snuck a look at Zachary, who was sitting right beside her, still focused on the documents with Joshua. “I’m not a fan of fried eggs.”
She considered putting it back on Eric’s plate, but the waiters had just taken away her used
utensils.
“Don’t waste it,” Zachary said casually without even looking up. “I like eggs.”
He leaned in, scooped up the egg in one go, and stuffed it into his mouth. Then, he went right back to reviewing the file like nothing happened.
Under the table, his hand reached over and held hers, resting on her lap.
Eric couldn’t keep himself in check even at breakfast, huh? What a menace, dressed in a hard- pressed suit.
Jessica dared not move and quietly finished her drinks.
Eric let out an awkward laugh. “Mr. Jones, you’re more down to earth than I expected.”
“Well, you’ll find yourself beneath the earth if you cross the line one more time,” she
thought, secretly chuckling to herself.
Meanwhile, Joshua finally closed the folder in his hands and began his breakfast. “Ms. White, could you show us where our seats are for later?”
“Already did.”
Susan did her job perfectly. She might be short and not super flashy, but she was meticulous. She never missed anything, especially in certain situations.
Their seats were in the front row, all next to each other. Jessica was on the left, then Zachary, Joshua, Susan, and finally Eric.
Fashion Week started at exactly 9:00 am. After breakfast, the group arrived at 8:00 am to
check in.
Already, many VIPS, internet celebrities, and media personnel were gathered at the entrance.

Everyone was ready with cameras, trying to get candid shots.
The group showed their invitations and walked into the venue.

“Mr. Jones, can we walk around on our own?” Jessica asked with pursed lips, her eyes shining
with earnestness.
Zachary turned his head slightly, catching the sincere looks on everyone else’s faces. He
nodded.
With that, they scattered in different directions, except for Susan, who stayed by his side. He glanced at her playful face, noticing a surprising calm behind it, then looked away.
“You can go as well,” he instructed, dismissing her. He thus strolled off to check out the venue.
Jessica wandered around nearby. She stopped by the restroom, then casually slipped into a side hallway, which led to the very back section of the venue.
From across the space, Zachary spotted her. She was walking quickly, heading into the back
hallway.
He followed, keeping his distance. But just as he reached the hallway entrance, two security guards stopped him.
“Excuse me, sir. Do you have a staff pass?” one asked.
“A staff pass?” he repeated, switching to fluent Sylvarian.
His sharp gaze flicked to where Jessica had just disappeared around the corner, pulled back
then slowly
“No staff pass, no entry, sir. Guests can only stay in the lobby and main hall,” the guard said politely, not wanting to make things difficult.
After some thought, Zachary inquired, “What’s the back area for?”
“It’s the backstage for designers and models.”
“I have a friend inside. Can they come out to bring me in?”
“Sorry, sir, not unless you have a staff pass.”
Zachary nodded, thanked the guard, and walked away.
The backstage area was strictly controlled. Passes had ID photos and numbers printed, while regular people had restricted access.
Zachary took out his phone and called Jessica. “Where are you?”
“In the restroom. No need to wait for me!”

He looked up, hummed in response, Now, this was getting interesting.
and ended the call. A smirk crept onto his lips.
