Chapter 54 Wendy’s True Colors
Wendy’s and Raine’s expressions darkened instantly.
Wendy’s voice shook with suppressed anger as she asked, “Who are you talking about?”
“I didn’t mention anyone specifc. Don’t get the wrong idea,” came Nancy’s response.
“Oh, please. Anyone can hear the sarcasm in your voice. Nancy, you should know why everyone dislikes you. Raine is talented, capable, and considerate. And you? You’re mean–spirited and
selfish!”
Wendy’s tone dripped with disdain as she continued, “Do you honestly think you’ll last much longer at Duran Corporation? I’m sure that you’ll be fired by the end of this week. Heck, you might even find yourself neck–deep in debt.”
“Is that so? It’s a shame that the truth won’t turn out the way you hope it will,” Nancy replied indifferently.
Wendy let out a cold chuckle and said, “I guess you haven’t seen how people are tearing you apart
online.”
Then, she pulled out her phone, clicked into Duran Corporation’s profile, and shoved the screen
toward Martha.
“Grandma, look at this. Nancy’s being dragged through the mud. If people find out she’s part of the Lidells, we’ll all be implicated!”
Looking at the screen, Martha narrowed her eyes. At that moment, a flicker of anger crossed her
face.
Wendy smirked. Finally, Martha would see Nancy’s true colors! Better yet, she would no longer defend her.
“How dare you bring this shit to me?” Martha said coldly.
Shocked, Wendy kept her phone away and said, “Grandma, I just wanted you to see who Nancy really is!”
“I don’t know much about Nancy, but as for you… It seems everyone else already does,” Martha said with a serious expression.
Wendy frowned. What did she mean by that?
Glancing at her phone, she thought to herself, “Had the online comments not been harsh enough?”
She was stunned when she read the comments. Cold drops of sweat slowly trickled down her forehead as she scrolled through the commentary.
“So it turns out Wendy staged the whole thing. She’s so disgusting!”
“Wendy, apologize!”
“You know that satisfying moment when someone you can’t stand finally gets exposed? I’ve

always thought Wendy was such a fake loser. Now, her true colors are finally out in the open!”
What was going on? Why was everyone suddenly attacking her?
It didn’t take long for Wendy to find out the actual reason.
Apparently, a media account had leaked an audio recording.
“Wendy, your so–called allergy is pretty unique, huh? One light wipe and it’s gone!”
2/2
“So what, Nancy? Internet users only believe what they see. I’ll let you off the hook if you give me 50 million dollars. If not, I’ll make sure Duran Skincare is ruined!”
The audio recording ended there.
Of course, it was a conversation between Wendy and Nancy. She hadn’t expected Nancy to have recorded the whole thing.
Now, everyone knew she had staged the entire incident.
“Nancy, you-”
Wendy’s eyes were bloodshot as she glared at Nancy. “I can’t believe you dared to set me up!”
“If we’re talking about scheming, you plotted against me first. I just gave you a taste of your own medicine, really. If you hadn’t staged a fake allergic reaction, no one would have seen through your act.”
Hearing that, the people at the table were stunned.
Raine wasn’t surprised because she had planned this with Wendy from the start.
Andrew and Regina, however, turned to Wendy in disbelief.
Regina pulled out her phone, checked the news, and in an instant, everything clicked in her mind.
At that moment, her expression shifted to a conflicted mix of realization and disapproval.
Martha angrily shouted, “Get on your knees!”
The weight of her authority hit the people in the room like a sudden storm, and Wendy’s legs gave out beneath her. She stumbled back, shoving her chair aside before dropping heavily to the floor.
Tears streamed down her face as she looked up at Martha. “Grandma, she set me up! I really am allergic. Just look at my face!”
Her cheeks were indeed covered in red blotches.
Nancy said, “That swelling is from an alcohol allergy, but none of our products contain alcohol. Wendy, if you’re so certain, let’s get a lab test done right now and see what really caused it.”
