Chapter 49 Who Do You Like

Gideon raised a brow. Is it that shocking?”

Nancy nodded honestly. Well, I guess it is surprising, considering your age.”

Gideon’s smile vanished in an instant, while Skylar and Hillary both did their best to stifle their laughter.

After noticing that she had said something offensive, Nancy quickly added, Well, I’m more

surprised that nobody caught your eye. With how remarkable you are, I’m sure plenty of women had to be after you.”

Gideon merely gave her an unreadable look before dealing the cards for the next round.

Nancy rubbed her nose awkwardly. For some reason, she felt like he was a little angry now.

This time, Nancy got the Joker again.

Hillary looked at Nancy excitedly. Should we continue with a dare?”

However, from her experience in that last dare, Nancy thought that a dare was too intimate for her

liking. She cleared her throat before answering, No, thanks. Why don’t we do a challenge instead?”

Sure. What do you have in mind?Hillary was curious about what she would say.

How about we tell the first person on our chat list that we love them?Nancy grinned. She had seen many trying this challenge before.

Hillary answered, No problem.”

After saying that, Hillary immediately sent I love youto the female celebrity that she had been

texting lately.

The duo then glanced toward Gideon and Skylar. While the latter downed a glass, Gideon slowly typed out the text.

Hillary asked, “Who did you send it to? Let us take a look!”

Nancy’s phone suddenly buzzed with a message from Gideon that read, I love you ”

Her fingertips trembled. Although she knew it was only a game, she could feel her heart palpitating as an odd sensation swept through her body.

When Hillary saw this, she covered her mouth in surprise. Wow! It seems like you guys have been talking a lot recently.”

Nancy furrowed her brow in confusion. They hardly ever talked, so how could she possibly be the first person in Gideon’s chat list? A spark of suspicion flickered in her mind.

However, Gideon simply said, Let’s continue.”

The four of them kept playing the game thereafter. After several rounds, everyone had downed a fair amount of alcoholespecially Hillary and Skylar.

Chapter 49 Who Do You Like

2/3

Hillary was already tipsy enough to get rowdy. She shouted, Skylar, you’re a jerk. You always pick on me. Once I get famous, I’m going to make you”

Before she could finish her sentence, she started giggling.

Make me do what? The rims of Skylar’s eyes were now visibly red. Although he was also drunk, he was still hanging on to a shred of sobriety.

I’ll make you my servant. Haha!Hillary laughed, lost in her own fantasy.

Skylar took in a deep breath. I think she’s drunk. Let me send her back first.”

Okay. Have a safe journey back home,Nancy replied.

After Skylar left with Hillary, Nancy glanced at Gideon, suggesting, Why don’t we take a stroll?”

She had been to plenty of parties before, but this was the first time she had drunk so much at a

time.

Sure.Gideon rose to his feet.

They thus stepped out of the bar. When the early morning breeze hit her face, Nancy instantly felt

a little clearerheaded.

When Nancy glanced at the composed Gideon beside her, she couldn’t help thinking about the

fact that the person he liked was there that night.

Thus, Nancy decided to ask, Hey, why did you drink when Skylar asked if the person we liked

was in the room?”

The words slipped out before she could stop herself, and her fingers curled slightly from her

nerves.

Gideon smiled and stared at her with deep eyes. The darkness of the night couldn’t come close to

his depthless gaze.

Because the person I like was in the room.”

For some reason, Nancy felt her heart begin to race just from looking at his gaze. She wanted to ask another question, but she couldn’t get the words out.

Gideon took off his jacket and draped it around her shoulders. Instantly, Nancy was engulfed by

his cedar scent.

His voice, deep and low like the quiet of night, brushed her ears as he said, It’s cold at night. Don’t

catch a chill.”

Nancy tugged the jacket tighter around herself and hummed in reply.

The bar wasn’t close to their residences, but the two of them didn’t feel tired while walking back slowly. It was already 2.00 am by the time they arrived home.

After washing up, Nancy stepped out of the bathroom and spotted the jacket on the couch. That was when she realized she had forgotten to give it back to Gideon.

Nancy sent a text message to Gideon that read, Your jacket is still with me. I’ll return it to you
