Chapter 29 The Rivalry

Nancy was stunned. She quickly called for the manager, who appeared moments later.

“Oh, my apologies! I forgot to mention. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to serve you tonight. The entire venue has been booked out,” the manager revealed.

“Mr. Miller, I made this reservation with you a long time ago,” Nancy saidher voice growing cold.

“Ms. Moore, you have to understand that I’m just an employee,” Lawrence Miller, the manager, replied helplessly.

Then, his face lit up when he spotted Winter. “Ms. Seabourne, you’re here.”

“Yes,” Winter answered, casting an indifferent glance at Nancy and her group.

In a languid drawl, she added, “Make sure my people have a good time tonight. I don’t want any riff–raff coming

“Of course, Ms. Seabourne. Everything’s ready,” Lawrence said obsequiously.

A sharp glint flickered in Nancy’s eye.

It was obvious Lawrence and Winter had been in on it together, and he’d intentionally kept her in the dark.

Rebecca gave them a smug, disdainful look. “I’m so glad I left Duran Corporation when I did.

Otherwise, I’d be out here in the cold with you.”

in.”

Π

Hannah questioned, “Mr. Miller, what is this? You agreed to the reservation, and now you’re backing out? Don’t you care about your reputation?”

“I’ve just been so tied up with Ms. Seabourne’s preparations that it slipped my mind,” Lawrence said, his voice dripping with helplessness and his expression full of indifference.

Raine spoke softly. “Nancy, he’s just an employee. You don’t need to be so hard on him.”

ww

Rebecca raised her voiceIf you were really from a family like the Seabournes, why wouldn’t the manager serve you? Maybe you should start looking for the problem in yourself!”

“Exactly!” several others who had left Duran Corporation echoed.

The Duran Corporation staff bristled, furious at their shamelessness.

The newly promoted assistant manager, Clara Whitmore, turned to Nancy. “Ms. Moore, let’s go. We don’t need to waste our time on a place that doesn’t value its own reputation,”

“That’s right! We don’t need it!” Everyone agreed in unison, their voices united in solidarity.

Nancy felt a twinge of emotion. She lowered her gaze and pulled out her phone.

Rebecca scoffed. “You only say that because you can’t get in. How pathetic. Yeah, you should just leave and take your team to some random street–side joint for your team building. You’re not even on our level, so why waste your money here?”

“Rebecca, that’s enough. Don’t waste your breath on them. Let’s go,” Raine said calmly.

“Fine. I’ve been looking forward to this for ages!” Rebecca laughed, following her inside.

Lawrence was cheerfully greeting them when his phone rang. After he ended the call, his expression changed in an instant.

He walked up to Nancy. “Ms Moore, my apologies. I made a mistake. You should all come in as well. This way, please.”

Winter’s face darkened immediately. “What the hell is this? I booked the entire place for today!”

“I’m sorry, Ms. Seabourne, that we don’t allow private bookings,” Lawrence replied with a strained smile.

“Are you fucking trying to get yourself fired?” Winter snapped.

Lawrence leaned in and murmured something in her ear. Winter’s expression shifted, and she east Nancy a venomous glare before storming off.

Raine, still clueless about what had just happened, felt her cheeks burning with shame as she watched Nancy and her team stride in

How did they even get in? By what right?

As the employees of Durau Corporation entered, Clara sligt Rebecca a mocking look.

“You’re the first person I’ve ever seen haup ship to the enemy and still have the nerve to act smug After this, I doubt any company will want to hire you, “Clara said

Rebecca let out a sharp scuff. “I’m doing perfectly fine at Blossor Corporation What on earth should I be afraid of? You’re just jealous.”

“Jealous of you? Please!” Clate sheeted, her tone full of disdain

Rebecca sexthed Watching Clars walk away, she raised her voice. “Your performance is nowtante neer cuts, yet you still have the energy to go out and play. Incredible! If I were you, I’d be to embarassed to even show my face outside the odig!”
