Chapter 12 He Probably Likes You

Chapter 12 He Probably Likes You

When Fergus saw the woman, his gaze softened. Suddenly, something occurred to him. “Rebeccayou also work in the skincare department, right?”

“That’s right. What’s wrong?” Rebecca Brown asked.

“Aren’t you the deputy manager? With your qualifications, shouldn’t you be promoted to the manager after the previous one left?”

Rebecca pursed her lips. “That’s true, but someone was parachuted into the job instead!”

Hearing that, Fergus became even more convinced that Nancy was a kept woman.

That was really shameless of Nancy. He couldn’t believe the Lidell family would produce someone like her.

Feeling utterly disappointed, Fergus gazed at Rebecca darkly. “Do you want to be the manager? I can help you.‘

Rebecca was Raine’s friend, so he didn’t mind giving her a hand.

Rebecca grew excited. “Really, Fergie?”

“Of course,” Fergus said with a smirk, his gaze turning cold.

Meanwhile, inside the office, Nancy asked, “Why are you here?”

Gideon approached her. “If I don’t show up, what about your lipstick?”

He spread his hand, showing the lipstick he had been holding the entire time.

As Nancy took the lipstick from him, her hand accidentally brushed against his fingers, which were rough and strong against her skin. She quickly pulled her hand back and said, “Thank you.”

“Was that man your brother from the Lidell family?” Gideón asked with obvious disdain.

Nancy felt ashamed, too. “Yes, but it doesn’t matter. I have my parents from the Moore family, anyway.

“Mm. If they treat you badly, let me know,” Gideon said calmly.

Nancy found that strange, but she still replied, “Thank you for helping out earlier.”

“You’re only thanking me verbally?” Gideon’s dark, piercing eyes locked onto her.

Nancy thought for a bit before offering, “How about 1 treat you to a meal? You treated me once and helped me earlier. You pick the place.”

“Your house,” Gideon replied without hesitation.

Silence filled the air.

Nancy frowned as she gazed at Gideon.

Gideon spoke up, his voice deep and alluring. “I’m tired of eating out all the time, and I’m craving home–cooked food. Don’t tell me you can’t cook, Ms. Moore?”

That remark definitely struck a nerve with Nancy. She had always been fiercely competitive, and besides, Gideon had a point. Someone like him must be tired of eating out all the time. Of course, can cook. But still, I’d rather treat you.

Nancy wasn’t about to allow a male stranger to enter her house.

Gideon stuck both hands into his pockets and replied casually, “Do you think I’ll do anything to you? I won’t. Since you insist, we’ll do as you say. I’l take my leave now.”

“Okay, goodbye.”

Nancy watched as he left. She felt puzzled as she thought Gideon was supposed to have an indifferent attitude.

Thus, on the phone with her friend, she mentioned what had happened.

After hearing the story, Hillary said to her, “In my opinion, there are only two possibilities.”

“Which are?”

“Either he deliberately got closer to you to steal the Moore family’s confidential files, or… he likes you!” Hillary concluded confidently.

Nancy was speechless. “Why do both possibilities sound impossible?”

The Fuller family and the Moore family were on par. There was no need for Gideon to sacrifice himself just to get some confidential information.

As for him liking her romantically? That sounded impossible.

Hillary chuckled. “Well, I saw Gideon from afar onceand honestly, he scared meHis presence is on another level. Whatever his intention is, I think you can play along and get close to him.

“If he’s after confidential files, you can steal his instead. If he really likes youwell, that’s a win for you, right?”

“You should focus on your shooting.” Nancy said.

It was time for Nancy’s meeting, so she ended the call.

Chapter 12 He Probably Likes You

2/2

When Nancy arrived at the conference room, only a few people were waiting for her, even though there were over 20 employees in the skincare research department.

Hannah wore a grim expression, too“Ms. Moore, I’ve already informed them.”

Nancy’s expression remained calm as she sat in the chair at the very front of the table. “Tell them that if they don’t show up in ten minutes, they’ll be fired on the spot.”
