Chapter 162
“Valeria.” Sebastian looked at her, taking in the gentle face now marked with self–mockery.
She was upset, and he could see it.
He hadn’t been around many women. Mallory was bold and outgoing, while Jane was quiet and
well–behaved.
At that moment, Valeria’s sharpness felt unfamiliar to him. Maybe hearing Sebastian call Jane’s name had struck a nerve.
He kept his emotions in check, speaking softer as he tried to change the subject. “Valeria, can we not talk about her anymore?”
He didn’t think Valeria wanted to hear about his ex right then, just like he couldn’t stand
hearing Shane’s name.
He understood that holding her drunk the night before while calling out another woman’s name had made her uncomfortable. He wanted to drop the subject, but Valeria wasn’t ready to
let it go.
Valeria gripped the milk carton tightly. “Why won’t you talk about her? Are you ashamed? Do you feel humiliated?”
She pressed, “Sebastian, did you ever love her?”
She wanted to know whether Sebastian had ever loved Jane, even if it was just the tiniest bit.
“Valeria!” This time, Sebastian’s voice was sharper as he called her name.
“I hit a nerve, didn’t I? Is that why you’re angry?”
“Angry?” Sebastian sneered. The smirk on his lips went cold. “You really want to bring her up that badly? What else do you want to know?”
“Should I tell you every last detail–how we slept together, what positions we used, how many condoms I used in a night, how we went from the couch to the shower?” he continued. “Do you want me to spell it all out for you?”
He shot to his feet, his voice low and tense. His chest heaved with each breath, struggling to keep his emotions in check. “I’ve never once asked about you and Shane. Maybe I should. Oh, maybe I should also dig into your little love story, too. Shouldn’t we show each other the same level of respect?”
“Shane and I…” Valeria’s voice quivered as she looked at Sebastian, unable to hide how upset she was.

But Sebastian cut her off. “I don’t want to know about the two of you.”
The part “Shane and I were already divorced” caught in her throat, left unsaid.
“Sebastian, is it really that hard for you to say whether you ever loved her? You were together for three years! Do you not love her at all? Not even the tiniest bit?” Valeria asked.
She then added, “If you didn’t like her, then why did you call her name last night? You know, there are still posts about you two on Stredview University’s forum? People are saying she was way out of her league, shameless, probably using some trick to reel you in.
“They also said she was a broke, chubby nobody who didn’t know her place.”
“Enough!” Sebastian tried hard to keep his emotions in check. He walked around the table, grabbed Valeria’s wrist, and asked, “You really want to know?”
He held her wrist tightly, making her step back.
“She’s nothing like you. She’s not as pretty, not as tough as you. We’re all adults here. Why are you making a scene? I don’t pry into your business with Shane, so don’t pry into mine.”
He stared at her face and took a deep breath, feeling a sharp discomfort in his chest.

eye.
Their argument ended bitterly. Sitting in his car, his head was pounding. He picked up his phone and called Mark. “What did I say when I was drunk last night?”
“Nothing much.” Mark still wasn’t fully awake. He had gone to bed late, and this wasn’t his usual hour.
However, since it was Sebastian calling, he sat up, still groggy. “You didn’t say anything, really. You just called out Jane’s name a couple of times.
“Man, you still haven’t moved on from that whale? She’s married with kids now. Didn’t Simon already dig up her info?”
The pause on the other end carried a chill that sent a shiver down Mark.
“I mean… It’s been seven years…” Mark stammered.
“Watch your mouth. If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all!”
Sebastian’s voice exploded through the speaker, shaking Mark. Any trace of sleep vanished in
an instant.

He stammered, unable to form a sentence. It had been a long time since he had seen Sebastian lose his temper. He usually kept his anger quiet and controlled, but his cold glare could make people uncomfortable.
Mark had almost never heard Sebastian raise his voice, stunning him.
Then, the call ended abruptly. Mark was completely shocked by the outburst.
