Chapter 159 

Sebastian bought Selena a wheelchair to help her get around. He complained about the couch at Valeria’s place, saying it was too small for him to sit comfortably, so he replaced it with at larger one. 

He didn’t like her curtains either. He said sheer light blue ones would look better, so he replaced those. 

He wasn’t happy with her old fridge either, saying the old model was too small and didn’t keep food fresh, so he bought a larger one. 

He also complained about her bed, saying it creaked when they moved, and he didn’t dare use too much force for fear the neighbors downstairs would hear them. 

Valeria blushed as she stopped him and tried to cover his mouth at the same time. 

Then, Sebastian commented sarcastically, “What? You’re holding on to years of memories with your ex on that bed, huh? You can’t bear to replace the bed?” 

He pinched her cheek, and sweat dripped from his nose onto her face. “Open your eyes and see who you’re with now.” 

Valeria’s fingers tightened around her cutlery. She shook her head, trying to get the image of 

Sebastian out of her mind. 

After a couple of bites, Selena sat in her wheelchair. It was motorized, and although Valeria didn’t know the exact price, she knew it wasn’t cheap. 

“Mommy, Leo said Mr. Grant’s birthday is after the New Year, so it’s still some time away.” 

Valeria remembered his birthday. 

Her lips had grown pale. Of course, she remembered Sebastian’s birthday. 

On his 21st birthday, there was a heavy snowstorm. Sebastian and his friends were having a gathering in a private room. Valeria didn’t join them. 

That night, she didn’t dare to walk in. She could hear the laughter and mockery coming from inside the room 

Just then, Selena’s eyes lit up as she said, “Mommy, I want to get Mr. Grant a gift.” 

Valeria nodded, her lips still pale. Then, she answered, “Alright. We’ll get him something.” 

In the middle of the night, Valeria’s phone rang.

She woke up startled. The moment she saw the phone number on her screen, she immediately recognized it- it was Sebastian’s number. 

She hadn’t saved his number, but she knew it by heart. 

“Hello?” she answered. 

“Sebastian is drunk,” came the voice on the other end of the line. “Ms. Neal, can you help look after him? Where do you live? I’m on my way.” 

Were they sending Sebastian to her place? 

Valeria gave him Sebastian’s address. There was a pause on the other end of the line.” Sebastian is alone, and that makes me kind of worried. Your place is in the Uptown District, right? Sebastian kept calling your name…‘ 

20 minutes later, there was a knock at Valeria’s door. 

She opened the door to find a young man helping Sebastian inside. Sebastian smelled of 

alcohol. 

Valeria frowned and quietly asked, “Why did you drink so much?” 

As Mark spoke, he looked Valeria over. He had pulled up to the neighborhood in a million- dollar sports car, but the streets were so narrow he could barely turn the wheel. 

The neighborhood was old and run–down, but he had finally seen the woman Sebastian kept mumbling about. 

She really was beautiful, with a naturally gentle demeanor–and her figure was almost unreal. With a slight makeover, she could debut as a celebrity. She was a natural beauty. 

Valeria glanced at the man. 

She recognized Mark, who was the heir of Davidson Group. They went to the same high school, and he was from the remedial class. 

At Sebastian’s 21st birthday party, he was the one who asked, “Where did this cheap thing come from? Don’t tell me that chubby one gave it to you. This is way too cheap.” 

The so–called “cheap thing” Mark described was something Valeria bought with the money she had saved from part–time jobs. 

It cost two thousand dollars. Back then or even now, 2,000 dollars was enough for Valeria and Selena to live on for a month. 

“I’ll leave Sebastian with you. I gotta go.”

As Mark left, he immediately pulled out his phone and started texting in a group chat. He typed, “Yo, don’t sleep yet! I’ve got some big news! 

“I saw the real deal today! The one Sebastian was hitting on, even though she was taken…” 

Valeria helped Sebastian lie down on the couch. 

She then went to the bathroom to wet a towel and gently wiped his face. 

Her fingers rested lightly on his handsome face, her fingertips brushing along the bridge of his nose. 

She knelt on the floor, steady as she could, but when Sebastian grabbed her wrist and pulled her close, she lost her balance for a moment. 

The scent of alcohol clung to him. His kiss was relentless and left her no room to breathe. When he was drunk, he kissed even harder. Valeria had experience, but she still struggled to keep up. Her body weakened quickly under his hold. 

She finally pushed him away just enough to turn her face and catch her breath. 

“Jane…” His voice was low and rough, his eyes slightly glazed as he pulled Valeria closer. 

He cupped her cool, silky cheek and gently caressed it. 

He braced one hand on the couch and leaned in, pressing slow, lingering kisses along her neck. His breath was hot and carried the sharp scent of alcohol. Again and again, he murmured, ” Jane…” 

Valeria clenched the damp towel, her knuckles turning white. 

The flush on her cheeks slowly drained away. She never thought she’d hear him call her by that name again.
