Chapter 946
“Jamie’s done for? What happened?” Sharon’s eyes flickered with interest.
Thrilled by the news of his downfall, Wendy could barely contain her excitement.
“It happened this morning,” she said, leaning in. “The story shot straight to the top of the trending list-Jamie was attacked at his own signing ceremony. The Walton Group was finalizing a massive deal with Tesrainea today. It was a huge contract, really strategic, and it was even broadcast live worldwide.”
For a global powerhouse like the Walton Group, securing partnerships on a national scale was routine, and a worldwide livestream was standard for an event of that magnitude.
Wendy eagerly described the scene she’d seen all over social media.
“Who knows if he was chased by assassins or what-but when he showed up at the ceremony, he had a fresh scar on his face and his leg was injured. He actually showed up in a wheelchair.”
At this, she lowered her voice conspiratorially and glanced around. “Who knows… maybe Xavier and the others struck back on your behalf.”
Sharon said nothing.
In truth, the scar on Jamie’s face and the injury to his leg were her doing.
No one had pressed Sharon about what she’d endured, and she herself had never spoken of it. For her, those memories were too dark to revisit. Yet though she chose not to dwell on the past, she never denied it either.
That Jamie had attended the signing in a wheelchair only underscored how crucial the deal was. Even so, before such a pivotal moment, he had still dared to abduct her and even planned to keep torturing her afterward.
The arrogance was staggering. He’d truly believed he could kidnap her and still walk away unscathed, his precious signing ceremony unaffected.
Sharon finally asked, “You just said Jamie was attacked at the ceremony. What exactly happened?”
Wendy’s eyes lit with a storyteller’s fervor. “The footage looked like something straight out of an action film! Jamie was shot, right in the chest. The whole place erupted into chaos.”
She animatedly described the scene, then quickly pulled out her phone. She had already downloaded the video in case it got
taken down.
The clip was short-barely five seconds. It showed Jamie shaking hands with the foreign representative, exchanging contracts… and then, suddenly, his chest jerked as a bullet struck. He collapsed instantly.
His bodyguards rushed forward to shield him. Panic swept the hall; the audience scattered in terror, though some bold reporters stayed, cameras still rolling.
Sharon arched a brow after watching. “That sudden? And no sound of gunfire?”
Wendy nodded. “They said it was a silenced gun. From a distance, you wouldn’t hear a thing.”
“Did he die?” Sharon asked.
Wendy’s smile faltered into regret. “He’s in Tesrainea, still undergoing emergency treatment. All news about him has been locked down. But Carter managed to dig something out -Jamie isn’t dead. The bullet missed his heart by barely a centimeter. Such a shame. Still, even surviving that much, the pain alone is enough punishment.” 2
Sharon nodded her head lightly. She knew well-though the bullet hadn’t pierced his heart, so close a wound still carried grave danger.

Wendy, like a raconteur spinning her tale, shifted the topic again.
