Loving DAD 935

Chapter 935

Jamie had only crippled Sharon’s hand-her legs remained untouched. Now, with survival on the line, her instincts unlocked every last ounce of hidden strength.

The driver froze for a moment, then moved instinctively to give chase. But the sight of Jamie bleeding profusely stopped him cold. He couldn’t just abandon his injured boss in the wilderness.

By the time hesitation chained his steps, Sharon’s figure had already vanished into the dense trees of the desolate outskirts. Even if he wanted to pursue, it was too late.

The driver tore his gaze back, crouched by Jamie, and hastily worked to staunch the bleeding.

Sharon’s two strikes had cut deep. He didn’t know which nerve or pressure point she had pierced, but Jamie’s thigh had gone completely numb-his leg useless, his mobility gone. 1

Jamie stared after the direction of her escape, his gaze glinting with a venomous, ice-cold light.

Sharon ran without direction, only with desperation. She could not-must not-fall into Jamie’s hands again. To be caught meant a fate worse than death.

The adrenaline that had fueled her flight bled away with every step. Pain from her injuries surged back in waves, especially the hand Jamie had once pierced. With each movement, fresh blood seeped from the wound.

Her strength ebbed, her vision blurred. She gritted her teeth, forcing herself forward, whispering, “Don’t faint. Not here. Not

now.”

But the land was too barren, too silent-an endless stretch of darkness with no hope in sight.

She didn’t know how long she ran before her body finally gave out. Her knees buckled, and the world dissolved into black.

Xavier tracked Lex’s phone.

When he arrived at the location, the place was already deserted. The only trace left behind was blood, dried and dark against the

ground.

Xavier’s pupils contracted sharply. His chest tightened.

He drew a deep breath, forcing himself into composure, and ordered, “Collect the blood sample. Send it to the lab immediately.”

He had to know-was it Sharon’s blood, or Wendy’s? Were they even here at all?

Another subordinate approached, carrying a destroyed phone.

“Mr. Cooper, we found this in the villa’s back garden. The last location pinged from here.”

Xavier’s eyes hardened.

“Then track Lex’s assistant’s phone. See if he’s still in Listoria City.”

Minutes later, the report came.

“Mr. Cooper, his signal is indeed in Listoria City, and the phone is moving.”

“Good.” Xavier’s tone dropped to steel. “Chase them down. At all costs, stop their car.”

He strode out of the villa.

Once inside the car, another thought struck him.

“What about Julliard? Any movement on his end?”

The aide replied, “Mr. Macaron has taken a large group toward the overpass. It seems he found suspicious activity there.”

Listoria City was, after all, Julliard’s territory. His network of informants was far sharper than Xavier’s.

Xavier’s gaze deepened.

“Send a team to observe. If there’s news, report at once.”

Lex could very well be holding Sharon. With Julliard pursuing that lead, Xavier would focus here. He would not risk letting either slip away.

Meanwhile, Julliard’s men had also been shadowing Xavier’s movements.

When word reached him that Xavier had discovered a villa, his eyes narrowed.

“Turn the car around. Follow him. He may have uncovered something.”‘

His assistant hesitated.

“But sir, the vehicles near the overpass looked very suspicious. Shouldn’t we investigate?”

A sharp light flared in Julliard’s eyes.

“If they appear so brazenly in front of us, they’re most likely bait meant to draw us away. Anyone truly desperate to escape would keep as low-profile as possible.”
