Chapter 25
“I don’t care about my end, but I will ensure that my woman will never end like mom” Damien shot back, his voice unyielding, “I am not you. Twon’t let the blind hunger for power dictate my life father.” he spat in disdain.
The room fell into a tense silence, the air heavy with unspoken words. Maximus’s gaze fell to the pink hair tie on Damien’s wrist once more, his lips curling into a sneer.
“This damn woman will fucking will ruin you, Damien. Mark my words.”
Damien smirked, his hatred intensifying. “Funny. That’s exactly what they said about you when you married my mother. Let me tell you my dear father, I have not forgotten a thing regarding our pasts nor have I ever forgiven you for the heinous deeds you did.” His father flinched, before straightening his posture as his face hardened into its usual stony demeanor before Damien continued.
“If I become the chairman of Giovanni group the first thing I might do is to ruin your favorite son Alex along with his conspiring mother. It’s better that you don’t give me such a powerful position on a silver platter.”
“Are you threatening me Damien?” Maximus laughed before continuing. “I have never considered Alex my legal heir.
Do you seriously think I would give a second glance if you were to do those things? I married Elizabeth because she was a source to stabilize my power but she continuously forgot her place and threatened my loved ones!
will force you to crawl back Damien and this conversation is not fucking over.” Maximus Giovanni said coldly, turning on his heel and striding toward the door. “You will regret it. I don’t forgive disobedience.”
Unknown to what was transpiring at Damien’s place, I was at a convenience store near my apartment when I felt numerous eyes on me as people whispered.
“Isn’t she that woman?”
“Definitely, that’s her. I almost fell for her innocent facade.” Going out, I felt trepidation in my heart as I walked quickly trying to reach my apartment soon when my eccentric landlord appeared.
“Elena!”
I recoiled in fear when John shouted, standing at the bottom of the stairs, gripping the railing for balance. His bloodshot eyes and the unmistakable stench of alcohol made me wince. He was dressed shabbily and came close sniffing me like a creep. Thinking that he was barely in his senses I wished to avoid any conversations.

“Um, good evening John.” I said cautiously “What is it?”
“Don’t you ‘good evening‘ me, Elena” he barked, his words slurring. “You owe rent. And I’m not waiting another day. Pay up!”
My brows furrowed as I scowled “I paid you last week though the bank. Check your
records.”
“Liar!” he roared, stumbling up a few steps. “You think I’m stupid?”
“I’m not lying,” I replied, keeping my voice steady. “I transferred the money. If there’s a problem, we can sort it out tomorrow when you’re sober.”
“So you wouldn’t give in easily huh?”
He laughed harshly, the sound echoing in the narrow stairwell. Before I could respond, two burly men appeared behind him, both wearing leering smiles
“This one is quite a beauty boss, why are you arguing with such a pretty woman?”
“This little girl thinks she doesn’t have to pay rent,” John sneered. “Says she already did.”
The second man chuckled, stepping forward. “Maybe she’s spent all her money elsewhere. You know, just on her…special needs.”
I stiffened. “What are you talking about? Just let me go!”
John’s grin widened. “Oh, don’t play innocent with me.
What’s there to hurry darling, or do you have customers waiting at home? You think we don’t know?”
“Know what?” I snapped, my voice strong despite the tremors in my body.

The first man pulled out his phone, tapping on it before shoving it in my face. “Your figure is so sexy, you are one hot bitch.”
My stomach churned as I saw the screen with a pale face. A blurry image of a woman who resembled me was partially naked, on her knees infront of a man in a hotel room.
The photo was accompanied by a scandalous headlines across several articles:

[Destroying the career of young master Alex Giovanni, Elena Dawson sowing discord in Giovanni family]
“You know how to seduce a man, sweetchick, how about you please me today and we can forget about the rent anymore.”
“Hey slut, what do you charge per night?” one of them drawled. “We can give you alot of money so how about you spend a night with us?”
“T–That’s not me….no that can’t be true” I stepped back in fear “This is fake!”
“Oh, sure,” Grayson slurred. “You expect us to believe that? Word’s out, sweetheart. Everyone knows.”

“Not let us off?” The men laughed in mockery “You think you’re in a position to make threats?”
“This is harassment, the cameras around this areas are all working and there is enough evidence,” I said, my voice firm despite the fear creeping into my chest. “I’ll report all of you.”
The men laughed, their voices echoing cruelly. “Go ahead,” John jeered. “Let’s see who they believe: the old kindhearted landlord or the woman who’s all over the internet for selling herself.”
My heart pounded, yet I refused to let them win. “Get out of my way,” I said through gritted teeth.
The first man smirked. “Or what?”
Suddenly a manly voice answered in rage.
“Or I will teach you all a fucking lesson you will never forget in your pathetic lives! I am her husband Alex Giovanni and she is not some fucking prostitute!”
