Chapter 111 Don’t You Owe Me an Explanation
Lucian’s temper kept climbing until it felt like a ball of fire was trapped under his ribs.
He let out a cold laugh and called his assistant. “Find out who Rosalie’s husband really is. I want every detail!”
Camelia looked at Lucian, her expression hard to read. “Lucian, are you still hung up on Rosalie? If you really like her, I can step aside. I’ll wish you both well.”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” He grabbed her hand, his voice tight with panic. “From the day my mom died, all I’ve felt for Rosalie is hate! If it weren’t for you, I would’ve been duped by Rosalie and Abigail. You’re the only one in my heart!
“But Rosalie and I grew up together. I see her as a sister. I don’t want her being deceived and going down the wrong road.”
Mockery flickered in Camelia’s eyes, but it was gone by the time she looked up again. Her face
showed nothing but gentleness and warmth.
“Then let’s fly to Yenilia tomorrow and bring my mom back. We should set a date and get married soon, alright?”
Lucian frowned. “Not this week. Charles has been sticking his nose into Yarwood Group’s project decisions. It looks like he’s going back to take over. Fenwick Corp’s stock took a hit. I need to manage this round of corporate warfare.”
He looked at Camelia and softened his tone. “Why don’t you take a few days to bring your mom back first? Once she’s here, I’ll go see her.”
The light in Camelia’s face dimmed, but she forced a smile. “Alright. Fine.”
…
On the sidewalk, Rosalie kept wandering aimlessly, holding Julian by the wrist.
Then, Julian stopped and asked softly, “Want to eat here?”
His low voice pulled her back to the moment.
She followed his gaze to a steakhouse sign and nodded before she even thought it through.
Okay.”
Julian gently slipped his hand free and laced his fingers through hers instead. His palm was big and warm, the calluses on his fingertips grazing her knuckles and sending a shiver up her arm.
He led her inside the steakhouse.

Rosalie stared at their joined hands, something complicated rising in her chest that she didn’t
have a name for.
The manager showed them into a private room and eased the door shut.
Julian’s dark eyes held hers. “No one is going to interrupt us now. Don’t you owe me an explanation?”
Rosalie’s fingers tightened around his. “I’m sorry. I never thought Lucian would hound me. He wasn’t like this before. Either way, it’s my fault. I’m sorry.”
Julian raised an eyebrow. “I’m not asking for an apology.”
Rosalie froze, thinking he was bothered by the harsh words Lucian had thrown at him.
She quickly said, “Don’t take what he said to heart. I’ve never thought of you as a freeloader. You’re exceptional. You’re a firefighter. You’re everyone’s hero and… and also my hero.
“Since we got our marriage certificate, you haven’t spent a cent of my money. You always brought me food, and you even roped your buddies into hauling those heavy machines for me so I didn’t have to pay movers.”
Her voice lowered, barely more than a whisper. “If anything, I’m the one leaning on you and taking advantage of you…”
Julian cut in impatiently. “That’s not what I’m asking either.”
Rosalie blinked, completely lost. “Then what is it?”
Julian leaned in and caught her wrist. His hand was hot, the rough calluses on his fingertips brushing her skin until a shiver ran through her.
His fell to her bare wrist, and his eyes darkened. “Where is the bracelet I gave you? Were
gaze you so caught up thinking about another man that you forgot to wear it?
