Chapter 102 Alright, I Forgive You
A quiet ache tugged at Rosalie’s chest. She leaned gently against Julian’s back. “If I’d known you were in the special forces, I wouldn’t have rushed into marrying you. I wouldn’t have pulled you into this mess.”
A man of his character shouldn’t be dragged down by someone as flawed as her.
Julian let out a low chuckle.
Without saying a word, he carried Rosalie straight into the apartment building.
At the elevator, he carefully set her down.
Her head remained bowed, a gentle, endearing look softening her features.
Unable to resist, Julian reached out and gently tapped the tip of her nose.
“Alright, I forgive you,” he said affectionately. “It’s late. Go get some rest. I’ll head back to the
station for a bit.”
Rosalie covered the tip of her nose, completely taken aback.
Did he really forgive her just like that?
She watched in silence as Julian opened his umbrella and vanished into the rain.
Like a steadfast pine, he stood tall and resolute.
Without warning, tears filled Rosalie’s eyes.
A surge of guilt overwhelmed her. It was a feeling unlike anything she had ever experienced
before.
Julian probably believed her only mistake was unknowingly drinking a spiked beverage.
He had no idea she had kissed another man.
If he knew the truth, there was no way he would have forgiven her so easily.
….
The next day, Vertex Tech officially relocated.
To call it just a move was an understatement; it was a full restart from square one.
A devastating fire had reduced everything at Vertex Tech to ashes.
The new office was bright and spotless. Richard watched closely as the movers carefully carried in brand–new servers, desks, and chairs.
Chapter 102 Alright, Forgive You
To save on moving expenses, every employee had volunteered to help.
“Ms. Ashford, you don’t have to lift a thing. We’ll take care of it!” a technician offered.
Seeing Rosalie struggling with a box of A4 paper, he quickly stepped forward to take it from her.
Rosalie smiled, her eyes sweeping across everyone present.
“I’m part of this company too. Helping out is the least I can do.”
Rosalie’s forehead glistened with sweat. Inspired by her dedication, the employees felt a surge of warmth. They pushed themselves to work even harder.
As she helped, Rosalie quietly observed each employee.
Blending in was the only way to find the traitor lurking in the company. That person wanted nothing more than to see her gone.
Just as the team was fully engaged in their work, a group of people suddenly gathered outside the neighboring fire station.
“Rosalie, we’re here to help you!” Crispin shouted.
A team of firefighters followed closely behind him.
Clad in black training T–shirts, they stood tall and muscular.
“Captain Yarwood went to headquarters for a meeting today. Before he left, he made sure we knew to come help out,” Crispin said with a wide grin, showing off his teeth.
“If you ever need help with heavy lifting, just give me a shout! We might not have much at the fire station, but when it comes to strength, we’re unbeatable!”
The moment he finished speaking, the group of sturdy young men surged forward.
The bulky servers felt like toys in their hands. They carried them into the new office without breaking a sweat.
What could have taken the whole morning was completed in just half the time.
Rosalie quickly had Richard fetch a few crates of bottled water for everyone.
But just as the water arrived, the fire station alarms blared to life. They hadn’t even had a chance to catch their breath.
“There’s an emergency!”
Upon hearing this, Crispin and the others shifted uneasily. Without hesitation, they dropped what they were doing and rushed toward the fire station.
Chapter 102 Alright, I Forgive You
As they disappeared from view, Rosalie felt a sudden pang in her chest.
Just as her anxiety began to settle, her phone buzzed.
It was a message from Crispin. “There’s no need to worry, Rosalie. A little kid fell into the sewer. I’ve got it covered. It shouldn’t take long!”
Rosalie let out a relieved sigh. “Be careful. I’ll treat you and the others to dinner when this is over.”
Crispin’s message arrived almost instantly. “Rosalie, you don’t need to go through all that trouble! You treated us just yesterday, remember? It wouldn’t be right for you to keep spending on us.
“Our lives are owed to Captain Yarwood. Helping you is the least we can do! There’s no need for such formalities!”
Rosalie’s fingers froze above the screen as she read the words, “our lives are owed to Captain
Yarwood.”
It was as if a sharp blow had landed directly in her chest.
