Chapter 146 The Perfume That Made Brian Lose Control
A hint of guilt surfaced in Willow’s eyes. “I… I didn’t do anything to Brian. Don’t you dare frame me, Chloe!”
Chloe’s eyes were burning with rage. Though Brian had returned his senses to some extent, his eyes were still tightly shut, and his expression was contorted in pain. Sweat beaded his forehead, and even his veins were popping up.
She’d only been apart from him for one hour, and he’d already been reduced to such a state!
Right when Willow was about to push herself up from the floor, Chloe planted her foot on Willow’s back and forced the latter to fall flat against the floor once again.
“I’m going to ask you a second time, Willow Quall. What did you do to Brian? What’s with that fragrance on your body?” Chloe snapped.
Willow struggled under Chloe’s foot, yet it seemed to weigh tons. Willow couldn’t get up no matter how hard she tried!
“What are all of you doing just standing there? Hurry up and get Chloe off of me!” Willow yelled at the household staff.
But none of them dared to step forth. After all, they knew that Willow was no longer doted on by the Quall family. Meanwhile, Geoffrey doted on Chloe the most amongst those from her generation in the family.
Even the fifth branch of the family’s history in the military was widespread amongst the household staff. They naturally liked Chloe more because of this.
Willow’s embarrassment turned into rage the moment she saw that none of the household staff were coming to her aid. “You’re all looking to be fired, aren’t you? If you humiliate me again, I won’t let you off the hook, Chloe!”
“Willow Quall!” Chloe’s tone was eerily grim as she glared at Willow from above. “If you still refuse to tell me what you did to Brian and something terrible happens to him after this, I’ll make sure the remainder of your life becomes a living hell!”
Chloe pressed her foot harder on Willow’s back after saying that.
Willow felt like her spine might snap in two under the force.
Meanwhile, Chloe’s expression was one of utter disdain and coldness. It seemed like she might actually break Willow’s spine if the latter continued staying silent.
So Willow could only bite out painfully, “I… I only sprayed some perfume earlier. I didn’t… I didn’t do anything else!”

“If it was just perfume, then why did Brian end up this way?” Chloe demanded.
Willow’s cheeks swiftly flushed before growing pale. At that moment, Chloe’s imposing presence reminded her of how she’d felt earlier when Brian was choking her.
“It… It’s the same perfume as the one… Emily wore when she died. I… I don’t know why he ended up reacting like this!” Willow bit out.
Chloe was stunned.
The perfume Emily had worn when she died?
Chloe knew just how traumatized Brian was because of Emily’s death. Yet Willow had sprayed the same perfume Emily had worn when she died. What was Willow trying to do here?
But Chloe couldn’t bother about these things right now. She hurriedly left the manor with Brian.
The living room was a mess. Willow stumbled back to her feet and glared at the household staff around her.
She’d been by Brian’s side when he’d witnessed Emily take her own life all those years ago. The bottle of perfume Emily had often used had been shattered on the floor. Its contents had leaked out, and the scent of perfume had been strong in the air.
Willow had known that Brian had ended up traumatized by this perfume’s scent too. He’d even acquired the manufacturing company that made it and destroyed the formula for it.
Meanwhile, Willow had just happened to meet someone who’d taken the initiative to recreate the perfume themselves when they found out that it was out of production. The person had recovered the formula themselves before creating a new perfume with the exact same scent.
They’d done it out of a fondness for perfumes, yet Willow had paid a huge sum to purchase a bottle of the perfume from them.
She’d seen how Brian had been all those years ago when he’d witnessed Emily’s death, the perfume’s scent thick in the air around them. He’d been anxious and fearful, and he’d been desperate for another’s embrace.
That was why, after she’d been rejected by Brian, Willow had left the living room and sprayed the perfume on herself.
She’d even arranged for the household staff to gather at the living room’s entrance. She’d wanted to undress herself while Brian was in a daze from inhaling the perfume.
Whether or not Brian actually ended up sleeping with her, their situation would still have left others with a certain impression. It would’ve been a win–win situation for Willow regardless.

What had excited Willow more was that it would have surely ruined Brian and Chloe’s relationship.
What she’d never expected was for Brian to lose control in an entirely different manner after inhaling the perfume.
Rather than trembling in fear and seeking comfort, he’d snapped and turned violent. It was as if he’d been ready to kill!
Chills ran down Willow’s spine the moment she recalled the suffocating feeling from having her neck choked.
“What are you all looking at?” Willow glared at the household staff around her.
They lowered their heads, not daring to speak up. One of them then picked up some photos
that had been scattered on the floor.
“Wait, what’s that you’re holding?” Willow cried at the maid.
The maid quickly said, “It’s… It’s some photos that fell from Ms. Chloe’s pocket earlier.”
Willow snatched the photos from the maid’s hands. Who knew Chloe would keep photos on her person? Willow wanted to see who exactly was in these photos!
Three photos had fallen out, and all of them depicted the same man. Two of them showed him dressed in a military uniform, while one showed him training shirtless.
Willow narrowed her eyes as she focused on the gnarly scar on the man’s shoulder.
Why did the scar seem so familiar? It was almost like she’d seen it before!
Meanwhile, Chloe drove Brian over to the hospital.
He only calmed down once the doctor administered a sedative to him.
William had hurried over to the hospital right after hearing that Brian had been admitted, ignoring the fact that he himself was still recovering from his injuries.
“Mr. Vaughn? What are you doing here?” Chloe asked. William had been injured during the last assassination attempt on Brian, so he’d been recovering from his injuries all this while.
“I’ve already recovered a lot. Why was Mr. Steele admitted to the hospital all of a sudden?” William asked worriedly.
“He had a meltdown after smelling a certain perfume. The doctor’s already given him a sedative. He should be alright once he wakes up,” Chloe answered.

“Perfume?” William was shocked. “Could it be the same one as before?”
“Do you mean the perfume Emily was wearing when she passed away?” Chloe asked.
William was stunned. “You know already about that?”
Chloe then explained what she’d forced Willow to tell her earlier.
William’s expression grew serious. “I never expected Ms. Willow would set Mr. Steele up like this. Only very few people know that that specific perfume sets Mr. Steele off. Ms. Willow only happened to find out about it by accident. The perfume’s original formula should’ve been completely destroyed by now!”
“I’ll need your help to look into how Willow got her hands on the perfume, Mr. Vaughn,”
Chloe said.
“Of course,” William answered.
“Also…” Chloe glanced at Brian, who was still lying asleep on the hospital bed. “Did Brian always lose control and try to kill people whenever he smelled that perfume before?”
“Huh?” William was shocked. “Of course not. Yes, Mr. Steele would become dazed, but he’d be afraid during those times and would try to seek physical comfort from those around him. He did occasionally exhibit some self–harming behavior too, but that was only when he was young.”
Chloe’s brows knitted together. So Brian’s reaction earlier tonight had been very different than before!
