Before I could say anything, Ambrose quickly appeared beside me. Behind him stood a few 

student council members, nervously wiping sweat from their brows. 

Sensing the tension in the air, they quickly tried to explain. 

It was then that I learned Emmett had taken a two–year leave of absence to stay by Heather’s side. Now, they were just one grade above me. 

Over the next few days, a chain of events took place in Ambrose’s absence. 

One night, I was waiting for Ambrose to finish his evening class. 

Out of the blue, Emmett leapt from behind the bushes, abruptly blocking my path. “How did you wind up here?” 

I shot him a cold look. “What’s so hard to understand? If you were able to get into this school, then why can’t I?” 

Emmett’s tone wavered, revealing a touch of humility. “That’s not what I meant. For two years, where did you and Ambrose disappear to? 

“Heather and I got married because she saved me after a car crash. It was her only wish- 

“That’s enough!” I snapped. “You don’t owe me any explanations. Why would I care about you and 

her?” 

I closed the distance between us. 

Emmett’s persistent behavior these past few days made my skin crawl. He’d been wiped from my memory ages ago, and my heart was sealed shut now. 

“My relationship with Ambrose is none of your business.” 

Hearing my unwavering tone, Emmett automatically took a step back. 

“What’s wrong? Are you trying to tell me that Heather isn’t the one you love? Am I the only one in your heart?” 

I made sure to stress those last few words. I didn’t want him to drive a wedge between Ambrose and me. 

Those were the exact words Emmett had spoken in my past life. They hit him like a bolt of lightning, leaving him frozen. His pupils flickered, and the color drained from his face. 

He shifted awkwardly, trying to steer the conversation away. “I’ve heard that you and Ambrose aren’t romantically involved. You just see him as a brother, right?” 

Suddenly, he grabbed my shoulders. “If that’s true, then why can’t we be together?” 

I pulled away sharply “You’re insane.” 

“Yes, I’m insane! I’m insane because I’m desperate to find you! You haunt my nights and have

dragged me into despair!” Emmett shouted. His eyes were bloodshot, tears glinting at the edges. 

The weight of his words settled between us, drowning the air in a tense silence. 

I froze, staring at Emmett in disbelief. 

His voice quivered, weighed down by an unbearable sorrow. “I already regret it enough. I shouldn’t have kept making mistakes. I shouldn’t have married Heather- 

I closed my eyes, drifting into a daze before interrupting him, “What does it even matter anymore? It’s done. Are you prepared to sacrifice another life for hers, just like you did before?” 

Emmett didn’t reply. 

I opened my eyes, my gaze calm and unwavering. Staring at his anguished face, I spoke without a trace of emotion. “Unfortunately, you won’t get another chance. I would never choose you again. 

“And just so you know, Ambrose and I are already married.” 

The words crashed into him like a tidal wave. 

I raised my right hand. The ring Ambrose had placed on my finger the day I came of age sparkled in the light. “We’ve already had our wedding abroad.” 

“No!” Emmett shouted, lunging toward me like a wild animal. 

Out of nowhere, a figure emerged from the academy building. With one swift kick, he sent Emmett sprawling across the ground. In an instant, a group of black–clad bodyguards pinned him down. 

It was Ambrose. 

I gripped his hand tightly, trying to steady the storm inside him. Though he hadn’t mentioned it in the past few days, I could tell he felt insecure. He even suggested transferring me to another. school. 

Meanwhile, I quietly allowed him to make every decision. 

It all began two years ago when I came across the notes Ambrose had written for me. 

That was when the truth finally sank in–the notes I had always received in my past life hadn’t come from Emmett, but from Ambrose.
