Chapter 100 

When Valeria turned her head, she caught sight of the veins bulging along Sebastian’s neck. 

They collapsed onto the couch. 

He slid his fingers through her dark hair and gripped the back of her head, while the other hand held onto her waist and pulled her into his arms. 

Valeria felt completely powerless. She couldn’t move an inch at all. 

She pushed against Sebastian’s chest, but it felt astonishingly firm. She had no idea how he trained to get that way. So she bit his lip hard instead. 

Sebastian did pause for a moment. The two of them were inches apart, and their eyes locked. 

His gaze was dark and unreadable, and the sight of it made her heart clench. 

But the pause only lasted a few seconds. 

His kiss grew rougher and more intense. He didn’t seem to feel pain at all. Instead, the sting on his lip seemed to excite him even more. 

Valeria regretted biting him. She knew Sebastian too well. He liked it when she fought back, and he always had. In the past, the more she resisted, the more dominant he became. 

The two dogs barked beside the couch. 

Valeria’s mind went blank. She was short of breath and in a daze. 

Sebastian’s hand moved up from her lower back, brushing against her skin. 

She had gone out to walk the dogs earlier, wearing cotton pajamas under a long black down coat. Now, from the corner of her eye, she saw the coat lying on the floor. 

She began feeling a little drunk, too. 

Maybe if not for the sudden sound of the phone ringing, they would have taken things further. 

Her phone buzzed inside the coat. In the quiet living room where only their breathing filled the air, the sound was loud and sharp. 

Valeria immediately snapped out of it and turned her face away, gasping for air. Her cheeks were flushed, and her long hair was a mess down her back. 

Sebastian froze, too. Blood was starting to seep from the clear bite mark on his lip. 

Their 

eyes met. Valeria stared at the cut on his lip for a second, then shoved him away hard. 

She picked up the coat from the floor and grabbed her phone. The screen showed a call from an Amaranian number. It had rung twice, but she hadn’t answered both calls. 

Valeria quickly called back, and a man’s voice came through the phone. 

“It’s Shane.” 

Valeria said, “I know.” 

Her breathing was still uneven. 

Honestly, she didn’t feel guilty at all. She and Shane had each gotten what they needed and separated as soon as the divorce was settled. 

But the issue was, she wasn’t familiar with Shane. Her shaky voice made her feel a little embarrassed, so she lowered her head and tried to steady her own voice. 

To Sebastian, the look on Valeria’s face was evasive and a little hard to read. 

He licked the cut on his lip. It didn’t hurt much, but it kept bleeding with a sharp sting. 

After Valeria hung up, she put on her coat and headed for the door. 

Sebastian got up, his eyes dark and unreadable. He asked, “Who was that?” 

He could barely make out a man’s voice on the other end. 

Valeria didn’t have time to answer. 

Shane had sounded anxious. He said Lucy had suddenly called him, but when he tried to call back, she didn’t answer. He was worried something had happened to her because of her age. 

So, he asked Valeria to check on her. 

Valeria walked out quickly, and Sebastian followed in a few strides, staring at her swollen lips. 

She looked up and said, “It was Shane.” 

This was the first time Sebastian had heard another man’s name from Valeria. It was a single syllable, spoken clearly in her voice. It took him a moment to realize that this was her husband’s name. 

In an instant, his expression soured.
