Chapter 58
Sebastian’s eyes sparked with recognition as he studied the winged bunny. He said dismissively, “You’ve only known her for a few days, and yet you’re already buying her gifts. You’ll be fooled by a woman in no time if this goes on.”
“This is how you pursue girls,” Leo explained, as though he were speaking to a toddler.
However, since Mallory had taken his allowance, he could only grab Sebastian’s arm and beg, ” Please, Uncle Sebastian. You’re the best. Ms. Neal wouldn’t lie to me.”
Then, Leo added, “You’re the one who was duped by a woman, Uncle Sebastian.”
Glaring at the dancing bunny, Sebastian ruffled Leo’s hair and scoffed. “Who designed this bunny with tiny wings?”
The saleswoman grinned and said, “This model, freshly designed last year, has been selling like hotcakes. It’s really cute and has caught the fancy of many young customers.”
Sebastian smirked coldly. “How ugly,” he sneered.
This exact model had been around seven years ago. Yet, she claimed it was a new product.
Leo picked up on Sebastian’s bad mood and knew he wouldn’t succeed in borrowing money
today. Puffing his cheeks, he planned to ask Grandma for money. She would certainly give him
some cash.
It was all Mallory’s fault. It was one thing to stop giving him an allowance; it was another to take his money so that he couldn’t even buy presents for the girls he liked. A man truly suffered in times of poverty.
The saleswoman grimaced. Sebastian was handsome, but he really didn’t mince his words.
Also, he had such bad taste. That music box was so cute.
There were many customers, so the saleswoman wandered away to engage with them. Leo leaned on the cabinet, looking at the other wooden sculptures. After checking how much he had, Leo found a wooden rose at the perfect price.
As Leo looked up, he saw a familiar figure.
“Ms. Neal!”
Valeria knew that where Leo was, Sebastian would be close by. Still, she walked into the shop with Selena,
There was a spot for resting in the shop, and there Sebastian was-sitting back with his legs crossed. He was unapproachable.
Around him, young girls snuck glances at him and tittered, snapping pictures of him
discreetly.
When Leo called Valeria’s name, Sebastian looked up. Their eyes met. Sebastian averted his gaze and glanced down at his phone.
“Ms. Neal,” said Leo. He pulled Valeria over to the music box and asked, “Ms. Neal, do you like this?”
She smiled and replied, “It’s cute.”
When she studied the bunny, Valeria was taken aback. It was stunningly familiar.
“I knew you would like it,” gloated Leo. He continued, “Uncle Sebastian said it was ugly. I knew he had different tastes.”
Valeria clenched her fist. Selena felt it, for Valeria had been holding her. She looked up and asked, “Mom?”
Valeria let go.
Her expression didn’t betray her emotions. However, internally, she felt bitterness gnaw at her. Sebastian hadn’t changed. Or, to be accurate, he only behaved like this because he didn’t like Valeria.
A young woman walked in at that moment and bought the music box. Everything in the shop had been handmade, and every item was one of a kind. Even if they were to have it customized, it would take at least two weeks to be done.
Leo was a little disappointed that it had been sold.
Initially, they were going to go back together at four in the evening on a bus. However, because Leo was suddenly plagued with a stomach ache from having too much ice cream,
Sebastian called a cab and took him home.
In the afternoon, Valeria brought Selena home. As she got a little carsick, Selena fell asleep on the couch upon getting home. Their dogs lay beside her on a nearby rug.
Valeria sat on the carpet with her laptop on the coffee table. As she worked, she looked back at her sleeping daughter.
