Chapter 134 Hitting Without Hesitation 

As everyone watched on, Brian tightened his grip around Leonard’s neck. 

Leonard struggled, trying to pry Brian’s hand off, but it was useless. Brian’s fingers were like steel rods; it was impossible to make them budge. 

Leonard’s face started to flush red, and only then did the people around them finally snap out of their 

daze. 

Willow rushed forward. “Brian, let go! My dad can’t breathe! Even if you want to stand up for Chloe, you 

can’t do this!” 

Stand up for Chloe? 

Brian lowered his gaze slightly. He just didn’t want Chloe to have to dirty her own hands. If anyone had to do something dirty, he would. 

Seeing Brian remain unmoved, Willow turned to Chloe instead. “Chloe, you’re despicable. How could you 

make Brian do this for you?” 

Wade said, “Chloe, no matter what, you should have Brian let go of Leonard first!” 

Brian looked toward Chloe. “Do you want me to let go?” 

It was as if he would take Leonard’s life right then and there if she said no. 

Everyone nervously turned to look at Chloe. 

Chloe’s heart trembled. Brian knew full well what kind of legal consequences he would face if he really 

did kill Leonard. Yet, he’d still placed the choice in her hands. 

Chloe said, “Let him go.” 

“Alright,” Brian answered, loosening his grip. 

Leonard staggered back a few steps before pointing at Chloe furiously. “Well done, Chloe! You even got 

Brian to humiliate me like this! If you don’t apologize, I’ll—” 

A solid punch landed squarely on Leonard, sending him sprawling onto the ground. 

“Chloe, how dare you hit my dad!” Willow shouted angrily. 

“Why wouldn’t I dare?” Chloe raised her head. “Even if he’s my uncle, he still insulted my parents and my 

brother. I’ll hit him all the same! 

“My dad didn’t die young; he sacrificed himself for the country! And my brother didn’t either. He’s a soldier 

carrying out missions for the nation. As long as his body isn’t found, he’s still alive!” 

Her voice was sharp and powerful, booming through the room like thunder.

Suddenly, the room fell silent. 

Willow frowned. Even though she absolutely resented Chloe, at that moment, she couldn’t refute her. 

She wouldn’t have dared to anyway. After all, she still vividly remembered the scene of Jenna and Walter’s ashes being buried at the national military cemetery. That day, she’d realized that Chloe was 

backed by the military and the government. 

Wade said, “Leonard, apologize to Chloe!” 

Leonard was stunned. “What? You want me to apologize to her?” 

Wade said firmly, “Yes, apologize! Walter and Jenna would never allow you to say such things!” 

“But I didn’t do anything wrong! If they were still around, I would never have touched that house to begin 

with. 

“But now that they aren’t, we can’t let our assets fall into a woman’s hands. Chloe’s just claiming that 

Daniel’s still alive so she can swallow up all our assets!” Leonard shouted. 

“That’s enough!” A sharp reprimand rang out from the office doorway, followed by the heavy thump of a 

cane hitting the ground. 

Everyone looked up in shock to see Geoffrey walking in, leaning on his cane. 

“Grandpa, weren’t you resting? What are you doing here?” Wade quickly went up to him. 

Geoffrey said angrily, “If I hadn’t come, would I have known what you were up to? How dare you covet Walter’s property? When did the Qualls become like this?” 

Wade rubbed his nose awkwardly. He’d known that the house was about to be demolished, but he’d left 

Leonard to handle the matter. He’d only found out today that Leonard had taken the money offered as 

compensation for the demolition all for himself. 

“Grandpa, that house is still our family’s property. It’s passed down to men, not women. What right does 

Chloe have to inherit it? Since there’s no one else left in Walter’s family, what’s wrong with me taking it?” 

Leonard argued. 

Enraged, Geoffrey slapped him across the face. “What do you mean there’s no one left in Walter’s family? 

Isn’t Chloe right here? The house belongs to her! If you dare to scheme against her again, you can just get 

out of the Quall family!” 

Furious, Leonard clutched his stinging face. Yet he didn’t dare to say another word. 

Geoffrey turned to Chloe. “Chloe, I’m sorry. It’s my fault for not disciplining your uncles properly and letting you suffer so much. But rest assured, if anyone else ever dares to touch anything that belongs to the fifth branch, I’ll consider them to no longer be a part of this family!” 

Those words weren’t just meant for Chloe’s ears but for everyone present. Geoffrey wanted to make sure everyone knew that, as long as he was around, Chloe had the strongest backing in the family.

His words also snuffed out any thoughts anyone else had about trying to get their hands on Walter’s 

property. 

“Thank you, Great–Uncle,” Chloe said. 

Willow watched the scene unfold with jealousy. Then, she suddenly turned to Carla and said, “Aunt Carla, everything Sonya is going through is because of Chloe. 

“That day, Sonya only flew the helicopter to rescue the trapped employees because I asked her to. But during the interview, Chloe embarrassed her, so she left halfway and ended up getting kidnapped.” 

Everyone’s eyes immediately turned to Chloe again. 

Carla glared at Chloe with bitter hatred. The outstanding daughter she’d raised with such care had been ruined because of Chloe. How could she possibly accept that? 

“Chloe, isn’t it? I’m also considered your aunt, and Sonya is your cousin. How could you treat her like this? 

“Carla accused her. 

Carla had married young and had already moved to Corvessia by the time Chloe was born. She’d rarely visited Yarfdale, and the two families hadn’t interacted much either. That was why Chloe had only found out during this trip that she and Sonya were related. 

“I only told the truth during the interview. As for her being kidnapped, maybe you should ask your daughter why she chose to just stand by and ignore someone in danger instead,” Chloe said coldly. 

Carla’s expression changed, and she immediately said, “Even if she did ignore someone in danger, that’s not against the law. The law doesn’t require her to save people in critical situations! But you and Sonya are family. How could you treat her like that?” 

She continued, “If not for you, would so many people be condemning her right now? Chloe, shouldn’t you take responsibility and help Sonya clear her name?” 

“I have no obligation to do that,” Chloe refused flatly. 

Carla turned toward Geoffrey. “Grand–Uncle, no matter what, Sonya is a part of the Quall family. And now, she’s become the target of hundreds of thousands of people overnight because of Chloe. In fact, she’s lying in the hospital right now. Doesn’t Chloe bear some responsibility for this?” 

She added, “I hope you can give Sonya justice!”
