Loving DAD 912

Chapter 912

At that critical moment, Julliard suddenly stepped in front of Sharon.

The blade plunged into his chest.

Sharon’s heart stopped. “Julliard!”

Seizing the brief opening, the bodyguards overpowered the assassin.

Julliard, as if numb to the pain, turned his pale face toward her.

“Sharon… are you hurt?”

Her voice shook uncontrollably as her eyes locked on the knife embedded in his chest.

“I’m fine… but you-”

Despite the blood draining from his face, he still tried to comfort her.

“As long as you’re safe, that’s all that matters. I’ll be fine…”

By then, the remaining killers had been subdued by his men and Xavier’s guards.

Only when the danger was fully gone did Julliard finally collapse, unconscious.

Sharon stood outside the hospital’s operating room, her face drained of all color.

Even as Wendy tried repeatedly to reassure her-insisting Julliard was blessed, that he would surely pull through-Sharon’s nerves were stretched taut, ready to snap.

Her voice was hoarse when she spoke.

“He’s already been hurt once because of me… the wounds hadn’t even healed, and now- again, for me…”

Her throat closed up, the rest unsaid.

The image of that blade driving into his chest right before her eyes… it was burned into her mind, impossible to forget.

Wendy opened her mouth as if to speak, then fell silent. That scene of Julliard throwing himself in front of Sharon without hesitation was seared into her as well, leaving her shaken.

After a pause, Wendy suggested hesitantly, “Maybe… maybe we should call Xavier. There were far too many assassins this time. If not for Julliard, we both might’ve died there.”

Her tone hardened, laced with fury. “Jamie’s people are merciless. First Carter, and now you,

Sharon. Do they think this city is their private backyard?”

Sharon lowered her gaze. “But what if Xavier ends up like Carter… or Julliard?”

Her voice softened, weighted with guilt. “I already owe them too much. I don’t want to drag more innocent people into this. If Jamie truly wants me dead, then let him kill me. One life- mine-is enough.”

Wendy sighed deeply. She had a point. This was Listoria City, and even Julliard’s vast network couldn’t track down the assassins. If Xavier came, he might simply be throwing himself into the fire.

Time bled away in agonizing silence until finally, the red light above the operating room flicked off and the doctor emerged.

“Mr. Macaron’s injuries missed the vital organs. His life is not in immediate danger, but he’s lost a great deal of blood. He will need rest and careful recovery.”

Only then did Sharon and Wendy exhale in relief.

“Wendy,” Sharon said, “help me move my things to the ward next to his. I’ll be taking care of him from now on.”

Wendy nodded at once. “I’ll help.”

Sharon suddenly reached out and gripped her hand. “Wendy… thank you.”

Wendy only smiled, brushing it off. “What’s with the thanks between us? I’ve gotten you into plenty of trouble too, and every time you’ve bailed me out. Did I ever once say thank you?

“Come on, Sharon. Get some rest tonight. I’ll stay with Julliard, and we’ll switch tomorrow. If you collapse from exhaustion, I won’t be able to handle everything alone.”

The killers had all been after Sharon; Wendy hadn’t been harmed. But Sharon-though physically shielded by Julliard-had endured the shock of life and death. The emotional toll was crushing.

She didn’t argue. “Alright.”

Though Julliard’s life was no longer in danger, his injuries were serious enough to keep him bedridden,

Still, compared to Carter, he was fortunate. At least he hadn’t slipped into a coma.
