A glimmer of delight lit Johanna’s eyes. “Jamie, you’re finally done with your work?” 

“Mhm.” Jamie’s voice was low and heavy. “The old fools in the family keep strutting around, clinging to their seniority while scheming to seize absolute power. Not once do they stop to consider if they actually have the ability to lead the family. Tsk.” 

“Jamie,” Johanna asked, “have you ever met the head of the Ferrero family?” 

“The Ferrero family’s head?” Jamie’s tone rose slightly. “I met the previous head a few times, but not the current one. Why do you ask?” 

Her voice carried a shy lilt. “If I were to marry him… would you agree?” (2) 

Jamie’s voice sharpened. “Marry him? Johanna, how do you even know him? And are you certain… that he’s truly the head of the Ferrero family?” 

“There shouldn’t be any mistake.” 

With that, Johanna recounted the entire story of how she had met Thomas. 

By the end, even Jamie found it difficult to believe her luck. 

“Johanna, you’ve done very well this time.” 

The Walton family had little direct contact with the Ferrero family, but their power was undeniable-enough to rival the great families, their hidden strength and wealth impossible to dismiss. 

If Johanna had truly caught the attention of the Ferrero family’s patriarch and the two could be bound together, it would mean an immense advantage for the Walton family.

Jamie’s voice darkened instantly. “Victoria was hurt? What happened?” 

Johanna didn’t try to conceal anything. She told him the whole story, down to the smallest 

detail.

The way Jamie and Victoria had met was nothing short of dramatic.
