Natalie reached out and pulled Kyle back. “Our teacher can’t make decisions. You may not know, but the judging panel for this school competition has already excluded him. Delilah wanted to protect Josie, believing that the teachers at the conference would treat her unfairly. Furthermore, after Josie’s thesis was publicly presented, it was favored by Earl, and Edwin also specifically requested it. At this point, the matter has become irreversible. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the senior student’s paper will be published in the university journal in succession following the internal competition.”
“By then…” Natalie sighed and said, “So, Kyle, there’s absolutely no need for you to feel guilty. After all, your punishment has already arrived. It’s just… This punishment does seem a bit too harsh!”
Harsh? He would be driving to death. As a result of this matter, all traces of guilt and self–blame in Kyle’s heart vanished completely.
To think he still believed he had gone too far! Looking back now, if Josie had truly wanted to help her, how could she have left behind those experimental data and a paper that was so clearly superior to his!
She was clearly waiting for a chance to embarrass him. She was clearly trying to climb up by stepping on him!
“I’m finished!” Kyle collapsed into the chair, clutching his hair. “I’m doomed. Soon, everyone will know that I am not as capable as Josie! I will become a laughingstock among all the faculty and students. I am finished. As a result, how will he be able to graduate successfully and secure employment?!”
Natalie felt contempt in her heart.
Before approaching Kyle, she went to see David, where she learned about the school’s plan to requisition Josie’s thesis.
It was also known that only Kyle’s previous papers and experimental reports were entirely dependent on Josie for completion. This differs from the others, who merely asked Josie to help prepare materials.
Kyle was simply good–for–nothing. Even though he was already in his second year of graduate school, he hadn’t learned much at all. All his attention and intellect were devoted to scheming in social relationships. Any success he achieves was entirely due to his glib tongue.
Knowledge couldn’t be acquired solely through words. It was only a matter of time before the truth came out.
Natalie pulled Kyle down to sit and gently patted his arm twice. Actually, it’s not that there’s no way to solve this; it’s just that…
Natalie shook her head. “Let’s drop it. I can’t talk about this. After all, Josie has had a tough time these past years. All I can say is that you are unlucky. Your thesis just happened to be singled out!”
“Yes, why am I so unlucky?” Kyle’s gaze darkened. “Out of more than two hundred papers, if any had issues, it just had to be mine. Did Josie do this on purpose?”
She already knew that my paper was not as good as his, so she deliberately embarrassed me in public. Was she just trying to get back at me?
Kyle clenched his teeth, and the last vestige of his conscience vanished as his own interests were threatened.

He looked at Natalie and asked, “You just said you had a method. What is it?”
Natalie was secretly pleased. This matter seemed even easier than she had anticipated.

Among the five individuals, as expected, only Kyle, who was the least capable, is the easiest to manipulate!

Several days later. Josie was sound asleep when Allison shook her awake and said, “The university has just issued a public notice regarding the investigation into Delilah for teaching violations. You need to get up and take a look!”
“What announcement?” Josie yawned and sat up.
“According to the school’s investigation, the paper published by student Josie in an authoritative medical journal was independently written and completed by her. And, her advisor, Delilah, did not assist in its writing or revision.
“Her participation in the innovative project for the intra–school competition was confirmed by her teammates, and she also proposed the idea to start the project. The knowledge she demonstrated during the presentation stage reflected her true level.
“It is hereby announced that Professor Delilah has not engaged in any misconduct in teaching, nor has she substituted her personal abilities for those of her students to mislead the public. This is hereby publicly announced to clear the name of Professor Delilah. The school adheres to the principle of …”
Josie did not continue reading the subsequent lengthy statements about the school’s fairness and impartiality, or its encouragement for students to supervise teachers‘ proper teaching.
She put down her phone, raised her hand to rub her face, and still wasn’t fully awake.
